We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the biblical command to honor our fathers and mothers, as it is written in Ephesians 6:2-3, *"Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."* This honor extends not only to our biological parents but also to the spiritual patriarchs and matriarchs who have guided us in the faith, reflecting the love and wisdom of our Heavenly Father.
Father, we lift up every father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, and spiritual leader who has poured into the lives of Your children. We ask that You powerfully provide everything they need for life and godliness, as Your Word declares in 2 Peter 1:3, *"seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue."* Bless them with emotional and bodily health, prosperity, and soul prosperity, just as 3 John 1:2 says, *"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers."*
Lord, we pray that these patriarchs and matriarchs would grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as 2 Peter 3:18 exhorts us, *"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen."* Establish them in the elementary principles of Your Word, as Hebrews 5:12 reminds us, and let them press on to maturity, rooted and grounded in love, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts by faith, as described in Ephesians 3:16-19. May they bear the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—so that their lives would reflect Your glory and draw others to You.
We ask that You open the eyes of our understanding with the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation, as Ephesians 1:17-18 says, *"that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints."* Strengthen us all by rooting and grounding us in love, that we may comprehend the breadth, length, height, and depth of Christ’s love, which surpasses knowledge. Open our minds to understand the Scriptures, as You did for Your disciples in Luke 24:45, and create in us a hunger for Your Word, that we may crave the sincere milk of the Word, as 1 Peter 2:2 instructs, *"as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, that with it you may grow."*
Father, let Your Word become flesh in our lives. Help us to receive fresh truths and retain them, being not merely hearers but doers of the Word, as James 1:22 warns, *"But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves."* May this obedience result in abiding communion with You, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, as 1 John 1:3 declares, *"that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ."* Let us bear fruit of discipleship by continuing in Your Word, as John 8:31 says, *"Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, 'If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.'"*
We pray that You would make us fruitful in disciple-making, fulfilling the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, *"Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."* Like the Apostle Paul, may we aspire to bear fruit among those beyond our immediate sphere, as he expressed in Romans 1:13, *"Now I don’t desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles."* Let us taste the goodness of answered prayer by abiding in You and letting Your words abide in us, as John 15:7-8 promises, *"If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples."*
Heavenly Father, we ask that You keep our patriarchs, matriarchs, and all of us from hurt, harm, injury, sickness, sin, and the schemes of Satan. Deliver us from evil, as we pray in Matthew 6:13, *"Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."* Rebuke and restrain evil people and the evil one, as 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 declares, *"and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one."* We pray especially for the neighbors and those around us whom we are called to love, even as Luke 6:27 commands, *"But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you."* Grant peace within our walls, as Psalm 122:7 says, *"Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces."* Even as we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as Psalm 122:6 exhorts, *"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper,"* we ask that You would not take us out of the world but keep us from the evil one, sanctifying us in the truth of Your Word, as John 17:15-17 reveals, *"I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth."*
Finally, Lord, we thank You for the privilege of coming before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved, as Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* It is only through Jesus that we have access to You, as Ephesians 2:18 says, *"For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father."* We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, to whom be all glory, honor, and power forever and ever. Amen.
