Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request and for your kind greeting in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We have prayed for this man who repairs and sells machinery, asking God to open a door for work soon.
The story of Job speaks to needs like this, even though cultures and times have changed. The same deep questions Job faced are still with us today, questions about provision, loss, and trusting God when we cannot see what He is doing. Scripture gives us a glimpse behind what Job and his friends could not see. God Himself spoke well of Job as a man who loved Him and turned from evil, while the adversary claimed Job only served God because God had blessed him with so much. God allowed Job to be tested, and in one day Job lost his possessions and his family. His response was to bow and worship and to acknowledge that he came into this world with nothing and will leave with nothing, and still to bless the name of the Lord.
That account helps us in a practical way. It reminds us that God is fair and just, even when we do not understand His ways. His ways are beyond our finding out, and there are many things we do not understand about why He allows certain hardships. At the same time, the testing Job went through is for our benefit, to show us that God can bring us to the end of our own strength so that we learn to rely on Him and trust Him more fully. Job came to see his trial as a refining process, that he would come forth like gold after God had worked in his life.
For someone waiting for work, that same truth applies. God sees his skill, his diligence, and his need to provide. He is not forgotten. The best place for his life and livelihood is committed into the hands of the Lord rather than carried with worry and fear. We can commit our work, our needs, and our future to God and trust Him to provide in His wisdom and timing, while we remain faithful in what He has given us to do.
So we pray together for him now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring this man before You. You know his needs and the work of his hands repairing and selling machinery. We ask that You would provide work for him soon, that You would open opportunities, bring customers, and supply what he needs to provide for his responsibilities. Give him peace as he waits, strengthen his faith, and help him to trust You and to walk in Your ways. Refine and uphold him through this season, and let Your goodness shine through his life. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Saviour, amen.
May the Lord encourage you both as you continue to trust Him and commit this matter to Him.
