We come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this mother’s plea for her son and all those in the community who are entangled in the snare of cannabis use. Father, we know that Your Word warns us clearly in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Smoking cannabis, like any substance that alters the mind and impairs judgment, defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit and opens the door to further sin and bondage. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and deception that has taken hold in this young man’s life, and we declare in the mighty name of Jesus that this stronghold must be broken.
We stand on Your promise in 2 Timothy 1:7, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* Lord, we pray that You would fill this son with Your Holy Spirit, granting him the power to resist temptation and the self-control to turn away from this sin. We ask that You would convict his heart deeply, not with shame, but with the loving conviction that leads to repentance. Surround him with godly influences—friends, mentors, and accountability partners—who will encourage him in righteousness. Father, we also pray for wisdom and boldness for his mother as she navigates this difficult situation. Give her the words to speak in love and truth, and help her to model a life of holiness and dependence on You.
We also lift up his business in garden machinery sales and repairs. Lord, You are the God of abundance, and we know that You delight in blessing Your children as they seek to honor You. We pray that You would open doors of opportunity for him, bringing customers in abundance who need his skills and services. Provide him with the resources, wisdom, and favor to grow his business, not for his own glory, but so that he may be a testimony of Your provision and grace. As he walks in obedience to You, let his work be a reflection of Your excellence and integrity.
Father, we also intercede for the others in this community who are bound by the same sin. We ask that You would break the chains of addiction and draw them to Yourself. Let them see the emptiness of their ways and the fullness of life that is found only in You. Raise up believers in this area to be lights in the darkness, sharing the hope of the Gospel and the freedom that comes from a life surrendered to Christ.
We pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved and set free. We declare that no weapon formed against this young man or his future shall prosper, and that every plan of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy will be thwarted by the blood of Jesus. May he and all who are lost come to know the truth, that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that in Him alone is true freedom, purpose, and eternal life. Amen.
