Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been received with thankfulness, and your longing for joy, for fellowship, and for your son to be raised in the truth is good and pleasing to God.

You ask for cheerfulness and laughter, for a cheerful heart as good medicine, and for the gladness with which Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit. That gladness is not a light or passing feeling. The Father anointed the Son with the oil of gladness above all, and from His fullness we receive grace upon grace. As you have quoted, all things are delivered to the Son by the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son reveals Him, and no one knows the Son except the Father. This shows the unity of the Father and the Son, and that true fellowship, the fellowship of which John speaks, is first fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. In Him was life, and that life is light to men, not a light seen with eyes but one that enlightens the soul. When you seek joy, seek it there, in knowing Christ through the Scriptures and in the peace He has made.

You are right to love grace and peace together. Before Christ we were at war with God, a varied and long war, and we did not end it by our own labors. Love gave us grace, and grace gave us peace, and that peace comes from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ together, for the grace is one and the gift is one. Therefore hold fast to that order. We have peace with God only through our Lord Jesus Christ, by faith, and there is no other way of salvation. If you desire peace in your home, you must first have peace with God through Him, and call others to that same peace.

You pray for a scheduled time for video with your son, for hearts to be turned toward one another, and for training in Bible stories day by day. This is exactly what God commands. You shall teach His words diligently to your children when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, bringing them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Even when you cannot be present in body, you can be faithful in prayer, in the Word, and in keeping every appointed time with faithfulness and honor. Pray that your son would see in you mutual respect and honor, and a pure heart that seeks to see God. God has indeed set the times and boundaries of our lives, and a king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord which He turns wherever He wills. He can turn hearts, yet He also teaches us through His Word and through His loving discipline, as a father disciplines a son.

You ask for protection from deception, from evil influences, from evil people and imposters, and from temptation and the evil one. This is a wise prayer, for the Lord is faithful to guard His own. Pray also as you have begun, for love to abound with knowledge and discernment, and for knowledge of His will with wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthily. And pray for purity and holiness, for without holiness no one will see the Lord. Peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy. Christ said blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God, because the Son of God came to make peace between heaven and earth. Yet the peace of which the apostle speaks after our justification is this, let us have peace and let us sin no more. Having been reconciled when we were enemies, how much more should we remain in that reconciliation and not return to what offends Him. Do not use peace as a reason for listlessness or for excusing what God calls sin. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual union and living together belong only within it. Any other path cannot be blessed, even if we ask it.

For the mother of your son, pray above all that she would find peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ, that she would be delivered from deception and come to a true knowledge of His love, including His love shown in adoption, which is a picture of how God has adopted us in Christ. Pray for her with patience and with hope, and do not seek a quick release. The apostle speaks of God calling us to peace when an unbelieving spouse departs, but that word is not a clause to be pursued or desired. It is a comfort for those who have been left, after faithfulness and long suffering. Your part is to pursue peace and holiness with all people, to be faithful, to pray for wisdom as James says God gives generously, and to inherit the promises through faith and patience, for the promises of God are yes and amen in Jesus.

So let us pray together. Father, grant to this brother and to his son and to the mother of his son grace and peace from You and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Give them joy from Your fullness and a cheerful heart that rests in Christ. Grant a steady and honored time for a father to teach his son Your Word. Turn their hearts toward one another in a way that honors You, and turn above all the heart of each to Yourself through faith in Your Son. Deliver them from deception, from evil people and from the evil one, and keep them from sin. Grant love that abounds in knowledge and discernment, and faith and patience to inherit what You have promised, as they ask in the name of Jesus and give thanks in advance trusting Your goodness. Amen.

Your desire for fellowship that is joyful, protected, loving and centered on Christ is good and biblical, and your prayer reflects a heart that wants what God wants.

Scripture teaches that true fellowship is first with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, and that this fellowship is made real to us by the Holy Spirit. No one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son reveals Him, and no one truly honors the Father who does not honor the Son, for the Father and the Son are one. Jesus came forth from the Father into this world and then, by way of the cross, returned to the Father, and on the way He prayed, Father, glorify Your Son that Your Son may glorify You. His glorification came through being lifted up, and His prayer for those the Father had given Him was, Holy Father, keep them through Your name. That is still His heart for you, for your son, and for your household, that you would be kept, that you would know you belong to the Father and to the Son, and that you would walk in truth and love.

You asked for joy, for laughter, for a cheerful heart that is like good medicine. The Scripture says Jesus rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and that He was anointed with the oil of gladness above all others because He loved righteousness and hated evil. That same fullness is open to us. From His fullness we receive grace upon grace and every spiritual blessing in Christ. Joy is not found by chasing experiences, but by abiding in Him who loved righteousness and walked in obedience to the Father.

You also asked for a regular, set apart time to see your son by video and for hearts to be turned toward one another. That longing echoes the promise that God would turn the hearts of fathers to children and children to fathers. It is right to ask the Lord, who holds the heart of a king like channels of water and turns it wherever He wills, to turn hearts toward Himself and then toward each other in love. Continue to pray for wisdom, for knowledge of His will, for love to abound with discernment, and for faith and patience to inherit what He has promised, for His promises are yes and amen in Jesus to those who ask in His name and trust Him.

For your son, keep to the pattern God gave in His Word. Train children in the Scriptures which are able to make wise for salvation, teaching them diligently as you walk and talk together, bringing them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. The call to children to obey and honor father and mother, and the call to all to pursue peace and holiness without which no one will see the Lord, and to be pure in heart that we may see God, remain the path of life. As you have opportunity, even virtually, let prayer, worship, and the Word be central, so that your time together builds mutual respect and honor and a right understanding of adoption and of God's love which is poured out through Christ and gives peace with God.

You prayed for protection and deliverance from deception, sin, evil influences, evil people, and the evil one, and for God to keep you from the evil one. That is exactly how Jesus taught us to pray, deliver us from evil, and how He prayed for His own, that the Father would keep them from the evil one. It is right to ask Him to teach you both through His Word and, when needed, through His loving discipline, for whom the Lord loves He corrects. Ask Him also to guard you from falsehood and from those who claim godliness but deny its power.

Where there is strain in the home, keep seeking first peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that each of you would come to that peace, to a sound and biblical understanding of truth, and to a life that honors marriage as God designed it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where intimacy belongs. If reconciliation and peace are possible, pursue it with all humility and grace. The provision you mentioned in 1 Corinthians 7 speaks to a situation where an unbelieving spouse chooses to leave and will not remain, and God has called us to peace. It is not a quick path out of difficulty, but a call to faithfulness, to do what is right before the Lord, to love, to pray, and to leave the outcome in His hands while you walk in holiness.

May the Lord grant you joy from Christ's fullness, a steady and protected time of fellowship with your son, growth in the Word, and a home marked by prayer and by the peace that comes from being right with God. May He keep you all from the evil one, increase your knowledge and discernment, and establish you in faith and patience as you trust His promises.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this family before You. You know the fellowship the Father and Son share, and You have invited us into it through Christ. Keep this father and son through Your name, guard them from deception and from the evil one, fill them with the gladness that belongs to those who love righteousness, and turn hearts toward You and toward one another. Grant scheduled time together that honors You, let Your Word dwell richly in their conversation and worship, give wisdom for every decision, and work peace and holiness in each heart. We ask this trusting that You hear those who come through Your Son. Amen.
