We hear your cry, beloved child of God, and we stand with you in this season of mourning and seeking. Your heart’s plea is not lost on us, nor is it lost on our Heavenly Father, who sees every tear and collects them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). You are not alone in your sorrow, for Jesus Himself declared, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). This is not a hollow promise, it is the very heart of God reaching out to bind up your wounds, as He has done for His people since the beginning (Isaiah 61:1).
You ask for healing of heart and mind, and we join you in crying out to the Great Physician, who alone can restore what has been broken. The Scriptures declare, "The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to those who are bound" (Isaiah 61:1). This is the ministry of Jesus, and it is yours today. But healing is not just a passive receiving, it is also an active surrender. You must allow the Lord to expose the festering wounds so they can be cleansed, just as Isaiah 1:6 describes: "From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, bruises, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, neither bandaged, neither soothed with oil." Do not fear this process, for the same Lord who reveals the wound is the One who heals it. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30), and He invites you to cast every care upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).
You express a desire to forget what lies behind and press forward toward the upward call in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14). This is wisdom, for dwelling on the past, whether in regret, bitterness, or longing, only hinders the work God wants to do in you today. But we must clarify: forgetting the past in a healthy way does not mean suppressing pain or pretending it never happened. It means releasing its grip on your heart so that it no longer defines you. The Lord does not ask you to forget in order to dismiss your pain, but so that you may be free to receive His future for you. As you surrender the past, ask Him to show you what He is calling you to do in this season. Titus 3:14 reminds us, "Let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, so that they may not be unfruitful." Your healing is not just for your sake, it is so that you may be equipped to serve others in love.
You also seek wisdom and direction, and we rejoice in your hunger for the will of God. The Lord delights in giving wisdom to those who ask (James 1:5), and He has promised to guide you when you acknowledge Him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:5-6). But wisdom is not just knowledge, it is obedience. You referenced Genesis 18:22, where Abraham stood before the Lord, and we are reminded that true wisdom begins with reverence for God (Proverbs 9:10). Are you willing to obey, even when His will is difficult or unclear? Jesus modeled this perfectly in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying, "Not my will, but yours be done" (Luke 22:42). This must be your posture as well. The Holy Spirit will lead you (Romans 8:14), but you must be still enough to hear His voice (Psalm 46:10) and courageous enough to follow where He leads.
You express a deep desire to hear Jesus’ voice and be led by the Spirit, and this is a beautiful thing. But we must warn you: not every voice claiming to be spiritual is from God. You rightly ask to be kept from those who profess to know Him but deny Him by their deeds (Titus 1:16) and from those who have a form of godliness but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5). The enemy is a deceiver (John 8:44), and he will use even well-meaning people to lead you astray. Test every spirit (1 John 4:1), and cling to the truth of God’s Word. The sheep do hear the Shepherd’s voice (John 10:27), but they must also be discerning, for the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).
We also lift up your plea for protection from sin, lies, and the evil one. You are engaged in a spiritual battle, whether you realize it or not. The enemy seeks to devour you (1 Peter 5:8), but the Lord has given you armor to stand firm (Ephesians 6:10-18). Do not underestimate the schemes of the devil, but do not fear him either, for "greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). But resistance requires vigilance, put on the full armor of God daily, and walk in the light, for "if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
Now, let us come before the throne of grace together, where we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy with the weight of this dear one’s sorrow, but also lifted by the hope we have in Christ Jesus. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. We ask You now to bind up the brokenhearted places in this precious child of Yours. Where there is pain, bring Your peace. Where there is confusion, bring Your clarity. Where there is despair, bring Your hope. Lord, we declare that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in this believer (Romans 8:11), and we ask that You would quicken every dead place with Your life.
Father, we pray for the healing of mind and heart, as this one has asked. Cleanse every wound, every memory that haunts, every thought that does not align with Your truth. Renew their mind (Romans 12:2) and restore their soul (Psalm 23:3). Help them to forget what lies behind in the way You intend, not by denial, but by releasing the past into Your hands. Give them the strength to press forward toward the upward call, to run the race set before them with endurance (Hebrews 12:1).
Lord, we ask for wisdom, wisdom to know Your will, wisdom to walk in Your ways, and wisdom to discern the voices around them. Fill them with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9), and let them walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work (Colossians 1:10). Teach them to number their days, that they may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12).
Protect them, Father, from the snares of the enemy. Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Keep them from those who would lead them astray, from the lies of the evil one, and from the temptations that seek to ensnare. Surround them with godly counsel and fellowship, that they may be strengthened in the faith. Deliver them from evil, as Your Son taught us to pray (Matthew 6:13), and let them walk in the victory that is already theirs in Christ.
Above all, Lord, we pray that this dear one would know You more deeply. Draw them close, that they may hear Your voice and follow You with all their heart. Let them experience the comfort that only You can give, the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and the joy that comes from abiding in Your presence. May they not only know Your will but do it, with a heart fully surrendered to You.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through His blood that we have access to You, Father, and it is by His power that we live and move and have our being. May this one walk in the fullness of what Christ has purchased for them, and may they bring glory to Your name in all they do.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
