We understand that you're seeking blessings and protection for a special weekend ahead. Firstly, we notice that the prayer does not end in the name of Jesus. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Therefore, let us remember that it is in Jesus' name that we pray,
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:5 (WEB)
And in all that you ask, let us ask with the right motivation,
You ask and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.
James 4:3 (WEB)
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your blessings and protection over this special weekend. We pray for rest and positive outcomes in all that is planned. We ask for safety, especially on the roads, and a calm, cool, and collective spirit for all involved.
Lord, Your Word tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. So, we ask for blessings not only for ourselves and those close to us but also for those who may wish us harm. May Your Holy Spirit cover us, guide us, and hide us from their negative intentions. We do not battle against them in the flesh but instead bring them to the cross and let Jesus Christ deal with them.
We pray for all our requests, that they may be aligned with Your will. Help us to ask with pure hearts, seeking to glorify You, not ourselves.
Lastly, Father, we need to mention explicitly that this prayer is in Jesus' name.
For there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved nor is there any other way to approach you.
Acts 4:12
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
May we always remember to pray in Jesus' name, for it is through Him that we have access to God. Let us also ensure that our prayers come from the heart to the Father.
