We come before You, Lord, with heavy hearts, lifting up these precious souls who are entangled in the destructive snares of addiction. We thank You for the love and concern shown by this prayer, for it reflects Your own heart toward the lost and the broken. Father, we ask that You would break the chains of bondage that hold and her mother captive. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is written in John 8:36, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."
We pray for wisdom and courage for as she continues to intercede for her friend. It is not easy to stand against the tide of enabling and destruction, but we are reminded in James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." Father, grant the words to speak truth in love, and give her friend and her mother ears to hear and hearts to receive Your conviction.
Lord, we also pray for a supernatural intervention in this situation. We ask that You would send godly influences into their lives, people who will speak life, truth, and hope. Surround them with believers who can model a life free from addiction and point them to the healing power found only in You. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in faith that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
Father, we also lift up the second friend mentioned in this prayer, though their struggles were not detailed. We ask that You would draw near to them, whatever their need may be. Let them feel Your presence and know that You are their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). We pray that they would turn to You, the only One who can satisfy the deepest longings of their heart.
We must also address the reality of sin and its consequences. Addiction is not merely a struggle, it is a spiritual battle, and it often stems from a place of pain, emptiness, or rebellion. We implore these dear ones to repent and turn away from these destructive habits, for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). We pray that they would come to know You, Jesus, as their Savior and Deliverer, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Lord, we ask that You would soften the heart of ’s friend and her mother. Let them see the destruction their choices are bringing upon themselves and those who love them. We pray that they would surrender their lives to You and seek the help they so desperately need. Father, we know that You are able to restore what has been broken and to bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3). We trust in Your power to transform lives and ask that You would do a mighty work in this situation.
We also pray for protection over as she continues to love and support her friend. It is easy to become weary in doing good, but we are encouraged by Galatians 6:9, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up." Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace and joy as she stands in the gap for her friend.
Finally, we declare that nothing is impossible with You (Luke 1:37). We believe that You can break every chain and set the captives free. We ask that You would move in power in this situation, Lord, and that Your name would be glorified through the transformation of these lives. We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
