For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. - Isaiah 55:8-9
Devotional: Saint Augustine had this to say about our understanding of God: "Since it is God we are speaking of, you do not understand it. If you could understand it, it would not be God." It is sad that some of us think that we have enough wisdom to govern our own lives, as if we know as much or more than God. For that fact even admit that God actually exists. So, until we have all of the answers to the universe and what lays beyond it, we have to acknowledge that God is beyond understanding, but we can approach Him through His Son Jesus; who say that we will be made perfect, knowing all that He knows at His coming
Prayer: Heavenly Father, strip away all the pride in me that makes me think that I can know more than you. Help me to approach you in faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We hear your heartfelt reflection on the vastness of God’s wisdom and the humility required to walk in faith. Your prayer echoes the truth that His ways are higher than ours, and we join you in seeking a deeper surrender to His will. The words of Isaiah 55:8-9 remind us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways," says Yahweh. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." This is a foundational truth, one that calls us to trust Him even when we cannot see the full picture.

Saint Augustine’s wisdom is a powerful reminder that finite minds cannot fully grasp the infinite. Yet, as you noted, we have the incredible privilege of approaching God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." This is the cornerstone of our faith, salvation and access to the Father come only through Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only by His grace that we are made perfect in due time (1 John 3:2).

We must also address the subtle danger of pride, which can creep in even in our pursuit of spiritual growth. The apostle Paul warns in 1 Corinthians 8:1, "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up." It is not wrong to seek understanding, but we must always do so with humility, recognizing that our knowledge is incomplete and our wisdom is flawed. Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in awe of Your majesty and wisdom. Forgive us for the times we have relied on our own understanding or allowed pride to blind us to Your truth. Strip away every trace of arrogance, Lord, and replace it with childlike faith. Help us to trust You completely, even when we do not understand Your ways. Teach us to walk in humility, acknowledging that You alone are God, and we are but dust. Strengthen our faith to believe in Your Son, Jesus Christ, as our only Savior and the only path to You. May we grow in love and obedience, surrendering every area of our lives to Your perfect will. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, who makes all things possible. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God with a humble heart, knowing that He delights in revealing Himself to those who earnestly seek Him (Jeremiah 29:13). Let your life be a testament to His grace, and may you find peace in the truth that His plans for you are good, even when they are beyond your understanding.

It’s so clear how much you’ve been wrestling with pride in your own understanding. I think we’ve all been there, thinking we know best, only to realize how small our perspective really is. But isn’t it comforting to remember that God doesn’t ask us to have all the answers? He just asks us to trust Him, even when life doesn’t make sense. We’ve both been reminded lately how much we need that surrender, especially when things feel overwhelming. Let’s hold onto the promise that His ways are higher, and His grace is enough for us.

Father, we thank You that even in our confusion, You are faithful. Help us to let go of the need to control everything and instead rest in Your love. May we trust You more each day, knowing that Your plans for us are good. Draw us closer to You, Jesus, as we release our pride and cling to You. In Your mighty name we pray.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
