You describe the wound of betrayal as visceral, and truly such a wound cuts to the very soul. You re-run the scenes and search for what you might have done differently, but consider this: the depravity that led another to betray was already rooted within her, just as the love of money made a thief and a traitor of one who walked daily with the Lord Himself. Is the love of money more grievous a tyrant than the disordered passions that lead one to forsake a bond for another? The soul is put beside itself not only by madness but by such consuming desires. Her present reveling is no sign of true joy but the laughter of the world, which Christ pronounced a woe upon. Do not let her apparent rejoicing deceive you; the peace she seems to have is fleeting, built on sand.

Your grief is real, and to grieve such a loss is not sinful. Yet you must not let this grief master you to the point of obsession. You check on her through a mutual friend and find your thoughts consumed: this is the anxiety and luxury that together choke the word, as thorns choke the seed. The apostle commands, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: again I will say, Rejoice. In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” This joy is not the world’s merriment, but the deep, abiding comfort of one whose communion with God is not hindered. Even those who were scourged rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for His name. If bonds and stripes could not produce grief in them, shall this human betrayal utterly sink you?

Of course the pain intrudes and the mind replays what was lost. But you must turn that remembrance into a sacrifice of thanksgiving. Nothing is holier than a tongue that, in evils, gives thanks to God. This is the crown of a confessor, no less than martyrdom, when the executioner of despondency stands over the soul and yet it refuses to blaspheme through bitterness. When the gift was taken away, the daughter of Abraham felt no indignation but praised God. Do this. When the serpent whispers that you have been wronged and your future ruined, rise up from that thought as our Lord rose to meet the betrayer, not fleeing from the cup but going forward in the strength of a hidden dispensation. He foreknew the traitor’s kiss and allowed it. How much more does He see your sorrow now?

As for your prayer for a God-fearing woman, commit this also without anxiety. Ask no question of the future, for the Lord is at hand. Let your forbearance be known to all men, even to those who have wronged you. Cease from investigating her life; such knowledge is not for your peace. Seek first the Kingdom, and trust that the One who conquered the world will establish your heart. The sorrows of this world will not cease, but the disciples must not despond when the Master has already overcome the ruler of this darkness. He is watching over you in ways you do not yet see. Offer your tears in the chamber of prayer, and let the peace that surpasses all understanding stand sentry over your heart, keeping out the violent thoughts that seek to trouble you. Be not drunk with the passion of wounded affection; sober your mind by the remembrance that He who spared not His own Son will with Him freely give you all things needful for salvation.

The pain you describe is real, and the sense of betrayal can indeed feel visceral, like a wound you keep touching. It is natural to replay the messages and scenes, searching for the moment you might have done something differently. Your mind labors to make sense of it all, but that labor can become a heavy burden when it exalts your own understanding as the thing that must find an answer. The truth is, our thoughts are not God’s thoughts, and our ways are not His ways. He knows the end from the beginning; when He allows something, He knows it is right, even when our hearts cry out that we would have scripted everything differently. You are not failing if you cannot trace the reasons.

In your anguish, you are not alone. Remember that in the darkness of the night before His crucifixion, Jesus sat watching over His disciples. He knew the confusion and heartache that was about to crash over them, the trauma of seeing Him crucified. He simply stayed near, praying for them. He does the same for you now. He is not distant from your sorrow; He knows the end from the beginning, and He watches over you with thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope beyond what you can see.

When the mind keeps circling back to her, checking through a friend, picturing her rejoicing, it is time to ask the Lord to search your own heart instead. The prophet reminds us that the heart is deceitful above all things; we do not even know our own depths. The disciples, when told one would betray Jesus, did not point fingers in suspicion; each asked, “Lord, is it I?” That is a good prayer for a wounded heart. You cannot know all the tangled motives behind her betrayal, just as many suggestions surround the motives of Judas. To fixate there is to walk in the limited knowledge of man. Jesus knows what lies beyond the grave of this relationship; cling to His words, for He knows better than we ever can.

God’s thoughts toward you are still for peace. He has not abandoned you to evil. Rather than seeking a sign or an immediate answer in a new relationship, let His peace quiet the obsessive reruns. He is leading you toward a desirable end, and His ways are higher than your ways. Rest in the One who alone knows the whole story, and who remains faithful when human loyalty fails.

We want you to know how deeply we have carried your heartache with us these past days, lifting every word of your prayer to the throne of grace. The weight of betrayal you described—both in your relationships and in the false accusations against you—is not something we take lightly. We have asked the Lord to wrap His arms around you, to quiet the replaying scenes in your mind, and to replace the ache with the peace that only He can give. The pain of being deceived by someone you loved, especially in such a cruel and calculated way, is a burden no one should have to bear alone, and we have pleaded with God to be your comfort in this storm.

We have prayed specifically that He would break the cycle of obsessive thoughts, that He would guard your heart from bitterness, and that He would help you release the need to know "what you could have done differently." You are not responsible for her choices, and we have asked the Holy Spirit to remind you of that truth each time the enemy tries to whisper otherwise. We’ve also lifted up your struggle with checking on her through mutual friends—asking God to sever any unhealthy ties and to redirect your focus toward His healing and His future for you.

Most of all, we have stood in agreement with your prayer for a godly, faithful woman to enter your life—one who will cherish the trust, loyalty, and devotion you long to give. We’ve asked the Lord to prepare her heart even now and to align your paths in His perfect timing. Until then, we’ve prayed that He would fill the loneliness with His presence, that He would give you tangible signs of His watchful care, and that He would restore your joy as you continue to seek Him.

If the Lord has already begun to answer these prayers—even in small ways—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report from you. If the pain still feels raw and the answers seem distant, please know we are not finished standing with you. Post this request again as often as you need, and we will keep lifting it before our Father. You are not forgotten, and your heart matters deeply to Him. May He draw near to you in ways you can feel, and may His love be the balm that heals every wound. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
