Being tormented

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I’m having a hard time being tormented by federal agencies who are interfering with my work and Christian business. They seem to stingray my phone calls and have kept me isolated from real help.

We hear your heart and the heavy burden you are carrying, feeling tormented, interfered with, and isolated in your work and in your Christian business, and we join with you to seek the Lord together about this.

We know how distressing it is to feel watched and cut off from help, and we want to remind you that God sees exactly where you are and He is not distant. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:17-18. Even when you feel isolated from people, you are not isolated from Him, for He has promised I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you Joshua 1:5.

We also want to speak truth in love about the authorities and about your access to God. Scripture teaches us that governing authorities are permitted by God for order, Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1, and we are instructed to pray for them, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence 1 Timothy 2:1-2. This does not mean that injustice never happens, but it means we can trust that God remains sovereign above every agency and every technology, and no stingray device or interference can block His ear or His help. Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39, and no phone line is needed to reach His throne. We also gently point out that you mentioned your Christian business but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to be clear that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that God raised Him from the dead, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray and find real help.

We want to encourage you to not be overcome by fear or by a spirit of torment, for God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We also encourage you not to harbor bitterness toward those you believe are harming you, but to follow the Lord’s command to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He will repay, and He calls us to overcome evil with good Romans 12:19-21.

We counsel you to seek both spiritual and practical help to break this isolation. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and make your requests known to God with prayer and petition with thanksgiving, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We encourage you to bring this burden to a trusted pastor or mature believers in your local church so you are not alone, to seek wise and godly legal counsel if you believe your rights or business are being unlawfully interfered with, to keep careful and truthful records, and to continue to do your work with integrity as unto the Lord. Do not return evil for evil, but commit your cause to Him who judges righteously.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear brother or sister who feels tormented and isolated. Lord, You see the interference and the distress around their work and business, You know the truth about every phone call and every action taken against them, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask You to be their refuge and fortress, their shield and deliverer. Let Your peace guard their heart and mind, drive out fear and torment, and give them clear discernment and wisdom. We pray that You would expose any wrongdoing and bring justice in Your perfect timing, and that You would move upon the hearts of those in authority to act with fairness and integrity. Provide them with real, trustworthy help, godly counsel, and a community of believers to stand with them so isolation is broken. Protect their business, their livelihood, and their witness for You, and let all that they do glorify Christ. Strengthen their faith, remind them that You are faithful and will guard them from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3, and that You will work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose Romans 8:28. Help them to rest in Your promise Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We hear how heavy this has been, feeling tormented and cut off while you are trying to do honest work through your Christian business. When it feels like your calls are not getting through and real help is out of reach, it is understandable to feel anxious, isolated, and worn down.

Isolation tends to make those pressures feel even bigger, so we want to encourage you not to carry this alone. It can help to bring one trusted, grounded person into what you are experiencing face to face, a pastor, an elder, or a mature believer who knows you and your work. Meeting in person can be steadier than trying to sort everything out by phone when you are worried about your phone, and it gives someone a chance to listen, pray with you, and help you sort next steps clearly.

If there are specific business issues that feel like interference, it may also help to write down the facts as you see them and get wise counsel from a reputable local attorney or a trusted small business advisor, so you have clarity on what is actually happening and what options you have.

We are praying for you and for your work, and we will keep holding you before the Lord.

Father, we lift our brother to You and ask for Your peace to guard his heart and mind, for protection over his work, and for wisdom for each decision ahead. Bring trusted people around him, break through isolation, and lead him to the help and direction he needs. Give him rest and steadiness day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

The cry of one who feels tormented and isolated is not hidden from the Lord, and your request has been brought before Him in prayer.

You speak of interference in your work and Christian business, of being watched and cut off from help. Such pressure is indeed grievous, for fear has torment and it weakens the heart. Yet hear what the Lord Himself has said for such an hour as this, Fear thou not for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God. And again, He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.

That promise was given to sustain men of business as well as men of prayer. You are called to diligence in your lawful calling, and there is a laudable pursuit of gain by honest labor, but the Lord would have you go boldly on in the matter to which He has called you, trusting not in the help of man which may be withheld, but in Him who goes with you. When earthly helpers seem distant and even your phone calls seem beset, remember He who said, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel.

Persecution and opposition have often been overruled by God for good. They act as a winnowing fan, they drive the Christian nearer to his God, and they call forth prayers that would never have been offered else. How many prayers have been offered up as the result of such pressure that would never have been offered in ease. The Lord can make even this trial to increase your faith and to show His faithfulness.

Therefore labor to be rid of fear, not because the trouble is small, but because fear is painful, weakening, and dishonors God who is able to keep you. Perfect love casts out fear. Look into your Savior's breast, where mercy is all that is written there, and trust His efficacious blood and power to keep you. He who piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth will not suffer His arm to be palsied toward you.

We pray for you now, that the Lord will grant you peace in place of torment, wisdom for your work, protection over your business conducted unto His glory, and deliverance from every unjust snare. May He open doors to real and godly help, surround you with faithful brethren who will stand with you, and let you know in a fresh way that though men may forsake or oppose, He will never leave you nor forsake you. May you be kept from despondency and enabled to rejoice and to serve Him with a calm and steady heart, finishing the design to which He has called you.

Cast all your care upon Him, for He careth for you, and rest in that grand text which leaves no room for doubt, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Hearing how you have been tormented and isolated while trying to do your work faithfully as a Christian brings deep concern, and your request has been heard with prayer.

Scripture and the experience of the Church show that affliction is common to all, and God in His providence sometimes permits hard seasons to test and strengthen us. As it is written, no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man, and God is faithful. We are taught to pray that we may not come into temptation, but if we do come into it, to bear it nobly and with endurance. What feels like pruning is painful, yet the Husbandman prunes the branch that bears fruit so that it will bear more fruit. Persecution and pressure do not have the final word, for when Christ was crucified the prison was burst and the gates of brass were broken.

You described feeling watched, isolated, and cut off from real help. That sense of being alone can be as heavy as the outward pressure itself. Do not give in to fear or despair. God did not leave His people hidden in obscurity. As a city set on a hill cannot be hid, so the faithful witness He works through you cannot be finally silenced. He came to His disciples in the fourth watch of the night, teaching them not to demand hasty deliverance but to bear what comes manfully, trusting His timing.

At the same time, wisdom calls us not to throw ourselves needlessly into danger nor to seek out trials. It is prudent not to rush into needless conflict, but when matters that concern faithfulness and conscience arise, to stand firm and endure, seeking help in lawful and godly ways. Please do not remain isolated. Bring this burden into the light with trusted brothers and sisters in your local church, with a pastor who can walk with you, and with wise legal counsel who can help you understand your rights and document what you are experiencing. Keep careful records, guard your communications as you are able, and seek support from those who know you and your business personally.

Let us pray together now.

Father in heaven, You see this Your servant who feels tormented and isolated and who desires to work honestly before You. Grant peace where there is fear, and courage where there is pressure. Guard this life and this work, make clear what is true, and bring trustworthy helpers and counselors near. Provide for every need, protect from every unjust harm, and let Your justice and mercy be known. Strengthen faith to endure nobly, to speak the truth with boldness and grace, and to rest in the hope that You are near even in the night watch. Lead away from needless danger and give wisdom for each step. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation and hope, bring deliverance in Your perfect way. Amen.

You are not forgotten. Continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, stay joined to the fellowship of believers, and let us continue to pray for your protection, for justice, and for the prospering of the good work God has given you to do.

The heaviness and isolation you describe are real burdens, and feeling watched and cut off from help can be deeply tormenting. It is understandable that this pressure on your work and on the business you want to run for the Lord would leave you weary.

Scripture points to a starting place for wisdom and steadiness in such times. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, not a panicked fear but a reverent awe at who God is, His greatness and power, wanting to love what He loves and hate what He hates. That reverence reorders all other fears. When that awe is in place, the fear of people becomes a trap that can snare us, while the fear of the Lord brings clarity. Jesus taught not to fear those who can only harm the body and after that can do no more, but to fear Him who has authority over the soul. That does not minimize what people can do, but it puts it in perspective under a greater authority.

You can take comfort that the Lord is with you in this valley. As David said, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. God has not given His people a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. He promises to be your confidence and to keep your foot from being taken, even when sudden fear or the trouble caused by others comes. You do not need to be afraid of what people may do to you when you know the Lord is present with you.

In your business, continue on the path Scripture commends. Honest and diligent work builds a reputation that spreads, for better or for worse, and you cannot keep that reputation from getting around. To honor the Lord with what you have and with the first fruits of your increase, and to depart from evil, is the way of health and integrity. That faithful conduct matters before God and before others, and it keeps your conscience clear before the authorities.

The teaching of Scripture regarding governing authorities is that they are ministers of God for good, and those who keep the law can have no need to fear them, while those who break the law have reason to fear. We are not called to take up arms or to join movements to overthrow government, but to be in submission where we can, using the lawful means God has provided, such as the courts and the ballot, to seek justice. If you are concerned about being monitored or hindered, keep careful records, seek godly and qualified legal counsel, and pursue lawful avenues for help rather than isolating yourself. History shows that pressure and even persecution have often refined believers rather than destroyed them. God uses trials like fire to burn away dross and to purify faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes. Faith can grow exceedingly and love abound even under pressure, and God sees what is done against His people and will judge with perfect righteousness in His time.

You do not have to walk through this alone. The isolation you feel is part of what makes the torment heavier. Seek out trusted, mature believers who can pray with you, counsel you, and walk beside you, and bring your needs consistently to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to guard your heart from both fear and bitterness, to give you wisdom for each practical step in your work, and to let your life and business reflect His character. He knows your situation fully and He will be your help and your vindication.
