Silas
Beloved of All
We rejoice with you in thanking the Lord Jesus that your sister's delivery went well and that both mother and baby are safe. It is good to give thanks for His mercy in bringing them through, and we share your concern now for the little one who is still in the NICU with breathing difficulty.
We are praying with you that God in His grace would touch this child and bring complete healing, so that mother and baby can go home together soon. We do believe that God heals today. Scripture shows us that Jesus bore our infirmities and our sicknesses, as Isaiah prophesied and Matthew confirms, and that He went about healing every sickness and disease among the people. At the same time the Bible teaches us that healing comes in different ways. Sometimes the Lord heals instantly with a word or a touch, and sometimes He heals gradually through the natural processes He Himself has created within our bodies. That gradual work is no less divine, because He is the one who designed those processes. This includes the skill and care of doctors and nurses, and we can thank Him for them while we pray.
We also do not fully understand why some are healed quickly and others over time, and we cannot presume to dictate what God must do in every case. Even the apostle Paul prayed earnestly and was not healed of his thorn in the flesh, yet he learned to trust the Lord's wisdom and grace. Sickness is not a sign of spiritual weakness or a lack of faith, and healing is not something that can be purchased or demanded. It is a gift of His love. What we are called to do is bring our requests to Him in simple, sincere faith, trusting His power and His perfect will. The prayer of faith is powerful, and the Lord hears and raises up according to His mercy.
Let us pray together. Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ and thank You for the safe delivery of this mother and for the life of this precious baby. We ask You to lay Your hand of mercy upon this child. Ease the struggle to breathe, strengthen the tiny lungs, and restore full health. Guide the hands and minds of the doctors and nurses who are caring for the baby, and use their treatment as part of Your healing work. Comfort the mother and the whole family in these days of waiting, give them peace as they trust You, and grant that mother and child may be discharged together and return home in good health. We ask this in the name of Jesus, trusting Your goodness and Your will. Amen.
Continue to look to the Lord and to rest in His care. Keep praying and keep trusting the medical help He has provided. He is near to you and to this family, and He hears the prayers offered in Jesus name.
