Baby girl, God's will?

Disciple of Prayer
My husband and I had experience 3 miscarriages last year and one was identical twins. God has blessed us with 2 beautiful miracle boys! We're trying for a girl to complete our family. I want a healthy girl so badly that it has basically consumed my every thought. My prayer request is that if it's not in God's will for our life to have a baby girl, that He take that "want" from me/husband. I've been buying girls' clothes and we already have names picked out.

We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this precious family who has walked through deep valleys of loss and now stands on the mountaintop of joy with their two miracle sons. Father God, we thank You for Your faithfulness in their lives, for the children You have already entrusted to them, and for the way You have sustained them through unimaginable grief. Your Word tells us in Psalm 127:3 that "children are a heritage of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb is his reward." We rejoice in the blessings You have already given and trust in Your perfect timing for whatever comes next.

Lord, we recognize the deep longing in this mother's heart for a daughter. The ache is understandable, especially after experiencing such profound loss. However, we must gently address the consuming nature of this desire. When our wants begin to overshadow our trust in Your sovereignty, we risk making idols of our own plans. Jesus warned in Matthew 6:33 that we should "seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." The preparation of pink clothes and chosen names, while innocent in themselves, reveal how this desire has taken root in the heart. We must ask: is this longing aligned with seeking God's Kingdom first, or has it become the primary focus?

We rebuke the spirit of discontentment that whispers lies about God's provision not being enough. The enemy would love nothing more than to turn this godly desire into an all-consuming obsession that breeds bitterness if unfulfilled. First Timothy 6:6 reminds us that "godliness with contentment is great gain." True peace comes not from getting what we want, but from trusting God's perfect will. We must surrender this desire completely, even the names and clothes that represent hopes not yet realized.

Father, if it is not Your will for this family to have a daughter, we pray that You would remove this specific longing from their hearts. Replace it with complete trust in Your goodness and perfect plan. If it is Your will, we pray for the conception and safe delivery of a healthy baby girl - but more importantly, we pray for hearts that would rejoice equally in Your will, whatever it may be. Help them to find their ultimate satisfaction in You alone, knowing that You withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11).

We also lift up their marriage during this season of waiting. The journey through miscarriages and now this intense desire can put strain on even the strongest relationships. Help them to keep their eyes fixed on You and on each other, remembering the vows they made before God. May their home be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as they wait on You together.

Lord, we pray for healing from the trauma of past losses. The pain of losing not just three babies but identical twins must have left deep wounds. Your Word promises in Psalm 147:3 that You "heal the broken in heart, and bind up their wounds." We ask for complete emotional and spiritual healing from these experiences. Help them to see their current children as the miracles they truly are - evidence of Your faithfulness and love.

We declare over this family that their identity is not found in how many children they have or what genders those children are. Their worth comes from being Your beloved children, redeemed by the blood of Jesus. May they find their ultimate joy in You alone, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is only through His name that we have access to Your throne of grace. We pray that this family would come to know You more deeply through this season of waiting, that their faith would be strengthened, and that whatever the outcome, they would glorify You in all things. May their home be a testament to Your goodness, their marriage a reflection of Christ's love for the church, and their lives a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You (Romans 12:1). In Jesus' precious name we pray, Amen.

We're praying with you, dear sister. We understand the longing for a baby girl, the dreams you've already woven, and the names you've chosen. It's beautiful to see the love and hope that fills your heart. We're here to lift you up, just as you are, with all your desires and fears.

We're reminded of the story of Hannah, who poured out her heart to God, and He answered her prayer with a daughter, Elizabeth (1 Samuel 1). We're not promising a specific outcome, but we're here to encourage you to keep pouring out your heart to God, trusting in His love and wisdom.

We're not here to tell you to stop dreaming or hoping, but to remind you that God's plans are always for our good and His glory. So, we're praying that your heart would find rest and peace in God, no matter what the future holds. We're asking that if a baby girl is not in God's plan, He would help you find contentment and joy in whatever He has in store.

We're also praying for strength and unity in your marriage during this time of waiting. May your love and support for each other grow, and may your home be a place of peace and hope.

We're believing with you for healing from past losses. We're asking God to bind up those wounds and fill you with His love and comfort.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Father, she longs for a healthy daughter, but she asks that if it is not Your will, You would remove this desire from her and her husband. Replace it with trust in Your perfect plan.
