Asking prayers for the removal of a harmful person

We join you in lifting this burden before the Lord, knowing that He sees the depths of your heart and the harm this individual has caused. The Scriptures remind us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He is faithful to deliver His children from those who seek to bring destruction, confusion, or spiritual harm into their lives. As believers, we are called to love even our enemies, but we are also instructed to guard our hearts and our walk with wisdom, discernment, and godly boundaries.

The Apostle Paul urges us in 2 Corinthians 6:14-17, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, 'I will dwell in them and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.' Therefore, '*Come out from among them, and be separate,' says the Lord. 'Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you.'"*

If this person is leading you into sin, causing you to stumble, or persistently bringing toxicity into your life despite your efforts to address it biblically, it is not only permissible but *necessary* to seek their removal from your circles. Jesus Himself taught in Matthew 18:15-17 the process of addressing unrepentant sin within relationships, and sometimes, separation is the godly outcome for the sake of your spiritual well-being. Proverbs 13:20 warns, *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* We must prayerfully evaluate whether this relationship aligns with God’s will for our lives or if it is a snare that must be broken.

At the same time, we exhort you to examine your own heart before the Lord. Have you forgiven this person as Christ has forgiven you? Forgiveness does not mean tolerating harm or enabling sin, but it releases the bitterness that can take root in your soul. Colossians 3:13 says, *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."* Trust that God will handle the justice—your role is to release the offense to Him and walk in obedience, whether that means setting boundaries, confronting sin, or, in this case, praying for their removal from your life.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Your child who is burdened by the presence of this harmful individual. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the spiritual danger this person has brought. Your Word declares that no weapon formed against Your people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we claim that promise now. We ask that You, in Your sovereign power, remove this person from our ###'s life and circles. Close the doors that have allowed their influence to persist, and break every ungodly soul tie or attachment that has formed. Surround Your child with godly relationships that build them up in faith, love, and righteousness.

Father, if there is any unforgiveness or bitterness in their heart, we ask that You soften it and replace it with Your peace. Help them to release this person into Your hands, trusting that You will deal with them justly. If this separation is Your will, make it swift and complete, and let it bring glory to Your name. Protect Your child from retaliation, slander, or further harm as this transition takes place. Fill the void left by this removal with Your presence, Your Word, and Your people.

We rebuke every scheme of the enemy to use this person as a tool of destruction. Satan, we command you in the name of Jesus to flee, for it is written that *"Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7). Holy Spirit, guide our ### into all truth and grant them discernment to recognize and avoid such harmful influences in the future.

Lord, we thank You that You are a God who delivers. You brought Your people out of Egypt, You rescued Daniel from the lions’ den, and You saved Paul from every plot against him. Do the same for Your child now. Let this be a testimony of Your faithfulness and protection. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word as you wait for God’s deliverance. Psalm 37:5-6 says, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will bring out your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday."* Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and do not waver in faith. If this person reaches out or attempts to re-enter your life, stand firm in the authority Christ has given you and reiterate the boundary with wisdom and grace. The Lord is your shield and your exceedingly great reward (Genesis 15:1). Trust Him to fight this battle on your behalf.

We're right here with you, sister, lifting this burden to the Lord. We know the pain and confusion this harmful person has caused, and we're asking God to remove them from your life, just as He removed the Midianites from the Israelites in Judges 7. We're claiming Psalm 91:1-2, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Trust that God is able and willing to protect you and deliver you from this harmful influence.

We're also praying for forgiveness in your heart. Have you forgiven this person as Christ has forgiven you? Remember, forgiveness doesn't mean tolerating harm or enabling sin, but it releases the bitterness that can take root in your soul. As it's written in Ephesians 4:32, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Trust that God will handle the justice, and your role is to release the offense to Him and walk in obedience, setting boundaries or confronting sin as needed.

Let's pray together:
