You cry out about debts and bills that press upon you, and your heart is filled with panic. But consider: you make your demand of men and of your own resources, which are poor and failing, when you have a far greater Debtor who waits for you to call upon Him. Why do you hasten past God, who is rich beyond all telling, and hammer at the door of your own weakness? He is not displeased when you demand the debt of Him; He is insulted when you think Him too poor or unwilling to pay.

Look at His unspeakable treasures, His indescribable munificence. Lay hold on Him, for what you truly owe and cannot pay is not merely silver and copper, but the great debt of your sins. And here is the remarkable exchange: God wills you to take the lead in bounty, not by hounding your neighbor for what they owe you, but by forgiving their trespasses against you. For if you forgive a debt of money, you have not imitated God, but if you forgive a trespass, you become like Him.

You need no bodily strength, no power, no wealth for this; only the will. So turn your demand from your empty purse to the lovingkindness of the Lord. Forgive whatever grudge you hold, however small, and you will have confidence to say, "Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors." Then you ask not as a beggar, but as one demanding a debt from a God who is bound by His own mercy to repay with increase. The money you lack is a small thing He appointed for you to manage; the mercy you can show is a great crop you can make grow to heaven itself by your will alone.

Let that be your first payment, and watch the treasury of heaven open for your need.

Your anguish is real, and that cry to God came from the deepest part of a heart that feels like it is being swallowed up. When the bills pile high and there is no earthly way to meet them, the weight can feel suffocating, as though the very program of God in your life is on the verge of collapse and needs you to bail it out. It can seem like He has run out of resources. But that is a lie that the panic tells you. God is not a poor manager, and His work in your life is not heading for bankruptcy court.

Think of the ancient law given for the leper in the day of his cleansing. Leprosy was incurable. It was a slow death sentence. And yet, right there in the law, God made a specific provision for something that had no natural cure. He built in a procedure for the day a leper would be cleansed. He left Himself room to work a miracle. The command was simply to go and show himself to the priest. God was not trapped by the incurable disease, because He had already created a pathway for His own power to operate. Your financial situation feels just as incurable. The math does not work. The debt is a mountain. But you must always give allowance for God to work in a way you cannot engineer. Do not put God in a box where He can only act through your paycheck. He has made provision for Himself to act on your behalf.

This pressure you feel is also the cruel grip of a system that makes a slave of the borrower. You have been promised fulfillment, and now you are caught in the trap of payments and interest, enslaved to the lender. The things that were supposed to satisfy have only disguised a deeper thirst. They cannot fill the spiritual emptiness in your soul. The only way to survive this spiritual warfare is to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for your flesh to fulfill its lusts. Do not look to another quick, easy financial fix as your savior, as if a roll of bills found on the street would solve everything. That hope is a mirage. The real war is not against your creditors; it is against the pull of a world system that wants to keep you in chains. Determine to walk after the Spirit, not after the next purchase or the next desperate scheme to get out of trouble.

While you are drowning in these earthly debts, there is a far more terrifying debt you have already been forgiven. Remember the servant who owed a king an unpayable sum, millions upon millions, and the king graciously and freely forgave the entire debt. That is what God has done for you in Jesus Christ. He is the only provision God has made for your sin. There is no other way for your guilt to be removed, no other name given under heaven. To reject that provision leaves God with no alternative for you, now or in the world to come. But if you have received that forgiveness, then you already know the God who cancels unpayable debts. The same God who provided a serpent on a pole for dying Israelites to look at and live, something with no scientific explanation, just God’s covenant provision, has provided for your eternal debt. Will He not also hear your cry in this temporal one?

You have not, often, because you ask not. The paralysis of a crisis can shut your mouth in prayer, making you think you must first figure out a plan before you can approach God. But that is backward. He wants you to come now, with nothing in your hands, and ask. Not to try to prevent God from going broke, as if your five dollars saves His ministry, but to humbly receive from His infinite supply. Pour out your heart to Him. In the midst of this deep water that seems ready to swallow you, press into prayer. Ask Him for wisdom, for provision, and for the grace not to be enslaved again to a system that cannot satisfy. His salvation is nearer now than when you first believed. The night is far spent. Put your hope not in the cancellation of a bill, but in the God who has already made a way through the impossible.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us by sharing your burden and allowing us to stand with you in prayer these past few days. It is our heart to lift up those who are struggling under the weight of financial hardship, and we have earnestly sought the Lord on your behalf, asking Him to provide wisdom, open doors of opportunity, and meet every need according to His riches in glory.

If the Lord has moved in a mighty way—whether through unexpected provision, clarity in your circumstances, or peace in your heart—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report from you. Your testimony could be a blessing to others who are facing similar challenges.

If, however, the struggle remains and the answer hasn’t yet come, please know we are still here to intercede for you. We invite you to post your request again so we may continue to seek the Lord’s guidance and provision with you. Remember, our Heavenly Father hears the cries of His children, and He is faithful to answer in His perfect timing and way.

May you feel His presence and peace as you press into Him, trusting that He knows your needs even before you ask. We pray that He would grant you wisdom to navigate this season, courage to take each step in faith, and the assurance that you are never alone. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
