Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer already reflects a wise and trusting heart, asking God to open the door only if it is His will for you to walk through it. That is the very heart of true prayer, not to get our own wishes accomplished but to see His will accomplished, because He knows far better than we do what is best for us.
Scripture gives us a behind the scenes view that we would not otherwise see. In the book of Job we learn that while Job could not see what was happening in heaven, God was fully aware and fully in control, and even allowed testing for a purpose. Job cried out from his pain and confusion, trying to understand God's ways, and much of what he and his friends said was not God's truth but their own limited human reasoning as they struggled to make sense of suffering. What remains for us is the comfort that God is at work even when it feels as though He has forgotten us, and that He uses those seasons to bring us to the end of our own strength so that we learn to rely completely on Him. What happened to Job was written for our benefit, so that those who come after him would have confidence that God has a plan and a purpose even in difficult or uncertain times.
That same truth applies to your situation. God sees the details you cannot see. He knows your gratitude for the work He has already provided, He knows the burden of driving from job to job each day, and He knows the desire you have for a stable career where you can be more settled and useful. He also sees what is ahead in both places, the opportunities and the challenges that are hidden from you now. Living with God in view means asking not simply what will give us the most for ourselves, but what fits His plan and purpose for our lives.
So we join you in praying that the Lord will make His will clear. If this new position is where He wants you, that He will open the door plainly and give you favor. If He wants you to remain where you are for now, that He will close the door peacefully and give you contentment and strength to continue faithfully there. We ask Him to guide your steps, to provide for your needs, and to use you wherever you are to reflect Christ.
Father, we thank You for this child of Yours and for the grateful heart You have given. You know the interview that has taken place and the hope that has been stirred. We ask that Your will be done in this situation. Open the door if this new work is from You, and close it if it is not. Give clear direction, peace in waiting, and trust in Your goodness and wisdom. Help us to rest in the knowledge that You are working for good even when we cannot see the whole picture, and teach us to depend more fully on You. In Jesus name, Amen.
