Ask God to open this new door if I'm supposed to work there!

Disciple of Prayer
Hello I did an online job interview this morning and I believe it went well. I'm asking for prayers for God to open this door if I am supposed to work there and show me which way to go. I am so grateful for my job but would love to find something better and have an actual career. Also it would be nice not to have to drive to several different jobs each day my current job is too much driving. Lord please show me if I am supposed to be at this new job or stay where I am and thank you for new opportunities in Jesus name Amen

We join you in thanking God for this new opportunity and for your grateful heart for the job He has already provided, and we agree with you in asking for His clear direction about this door.

We love your prayer to ask God to open this door only if you are supposed to walk through it, for that is exactly how we are called to seek Him. We are reminded that a man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps Proverbs 16:9 and that we are to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. It is wise and honoring to God to bring even practical matters like a career change and daily driving before Him and to desire His will above our own.

We understand the weariness that comes from driving to several different jobs each day and the longing for something more stable, a true career where you can use your gifts and provide well. God sees your diligence and your labor, and His word encourages us that whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. Whether He keeps you where you are for a season or moves you to this new place, your work can be worship to Him. He also promises to guide us, saying I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you Psalm 32:8, and we take comfort that He has thoughts of peace toward you, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11.

We also rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him we have confidence to approach the Father.

We pray together with you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Thank You for Your provision through their current job and for the skills and perseverance You have given them. Thank You for this interview today and for the opportunity that is before them. Lord, if this new job is Your will, we ask that You open the door that no one can shut Revelation 3:8 and make the path clear. If it is not Your will, we ask that You close this door gently and give unmistakable peace about staying where they are, and continue to lead them to the right career You have prepared. Grant them Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard their heart while they wait Philippians 4:6-7, and help them to wait on Your timing with patience and trust. Give wisdom to the employers as they decide, and give our friend favor where You will. Help them to continue to give thanks in everything 1 Thessalonians 5:18 and to work faithfully where they are until You make Your direction plain. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in His word, and to watch for how He answers. Sometimes He opens a door quickly, sometimes He asks us to wait and grow in contentment and diligence right where we are. Continue to be faithful in the work He has given you now, keep your heart open to His leading, and trust that He will make your paths straight as you acknowledge Him. We are praying that whether the answer is yes or wait, you will know His peace and His clear guidance.

Thank you for sharing this with us. We can hear both gratitude for what God has provided and a real hope for what might be next, and the waiting after an interview can feel long. Wanting a true career where you can use your gifts well, and not spending your days driving between jobs, are good and understandable desires.

We are praying with you that God will make His direction clear, whether that is opening this new door or confirming you should remain where you are. In seasons like this it can help to pay attention to how He often guides, through prayer, through His Word, through a clear understanding of your talents and values, and through the counsel of wise people who know you well.

One practical step while you wait might be to jot down while the interview is fresh what drew you to this opportunity and what questions remain, the work itself, the commute, how it fits your skills and long term goals. It can also help to talk it through with a trusted mentor or pastor who can ask good questions and help you weigh it calmly. Continuing to be faithful in your current work as you wait is itself a good witness.

Father, we thank You for this opportunity and for the work You have already given. We ask for Your wisdom and clear guidance for our friend, for peace while waiting, and for Your provision in the next steps. Lead according to Your will and help them sense Your hand. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace. You have done well to give thanks for the work God has already provided, and to ask not merely for gain or ease, but for guidance, that you may know whether to go or to stay.

We are taught in Scripture to say, If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so all things are under His regulation and have an appointed place in His plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. There is a providential will of God which we should always consult, and it comes to us through the circumstances that surround us, through open and closed doors, through peace or restraint in the heart, and through the counsel of His Word. It is wise and humble to pray as you have prayed, not I will go and I will get gain, but I will go or I will stay if it be the will of God.

We pray with you that the Lord in His perfect wisdom and mercy will make His way plain. If this new position is the place He has appointed for you, that He would open the door that no man can shut, and give you favor and a clear provision to enter it. If it is not His will, that He would as clearly close the door, keep you from striving against His purpose, and give you contentment and diligence where you now are. We ask that He would provide for you an honest and useful calling where you may serve Him and provide for your needs without the heavy burden of so much travel, and that in either place you may do His will and find your best profit in doing it.

May the Lord grant you a quiet confidence that His purpose shall stand. He has promised that no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly, and that He will guide those who acknowledge Him in all their ways. Cast this care upon Him, continue faithful in the work at hand, and wait upon Him to direct your steps.

We commend you to His gracious keeping and pray that He will give you wisdom, peace in the waiting, and a clear answer in His own good time, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
