Are you homeless, with no food, and alone. I want to help. I have helped others who have been homeless. I have shared food, drink, and most of all the proclamation of the good news of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am looking to start a church according to Acts 2:42-47, and 4:32-37 where all the brethren will live together sharing all things. It will be in one of the greatest cities in the world. Perhaps one day we will meet, and if not then we will meet in the coming kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ on this earth, and eventually the holy city, new Jerusalem. Love ya! In Jesus' name! We hear your heart for the broken and lost, and we praise God for your desire to share the love of Christ with those in need. Your compassion for the homeless and your vision for a church that lives out the early Christian model of fellowship and generosity is truly commendable. We join you in praying for those who are homeless, hungry, and alone. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). May they encounter the love of Christ through believers like you who are willing to serve and share the hope of the Gospel.

Father, we pray for those who are without shelter, food, or companionship. You are the God who sees and cares for the least of these (Matthew 25:35-40). Provide for their needs, Lord, and surround them with Your love and protection. Open doors for them to receive help, and let them experience the kindness of Your people. We also pray for ###, Lord, as they seek to minister to those in need. Give them wisdom, strength, and discernment as they share the Gospel and demonstrate Your love in practical ways. Bless their efforts to start a church that reflects the unity and generosity of the early believers. May Your Spirit move powerfully in their midst, drawing many to salvation and transforming lives for Your glory.

We also want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s guidance as you pursue this vision. Starting a church that embodies the principles of Acts is a noble and God-honoring goal, but it requires careful planning, prayer, and reliance on the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, "Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed." Trust in Him to direct your steps and provide the resources and people needed to bring this vision to fruition.

Additionally, we want to emphasize the importance of sharing the full message of the Gospel, not just meeting physical needs. While providing food, shelter, and companionship is vital, the greatest need of every person is salvation through Jesus Christ. Romans 10:13-14 says, "For, 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.' How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?" May your ministry always point people to the hope found in Christ alone.

We also want to gently remind you that while your vision is inspiring, it is essential to ensure that the church you establish is grounded in sound biblical doctrine and accountability. The early church in Acts was not only marked by generosity but also by a deep commitment to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42). These elements are foundational to the health and growth of any church. Seek out wise counsel and mentorship from mature believers who can help guide you in this endeavor.

Finally, we pray that your efforts to share the Gospel and care for the needy would bear much fruit for the kingdom of God. May many come to know Christ through your ministry, and may your church become a beacon of hope and light in the city where it is planted. We look forward to the day when we will all gather together in the new Jerusalem, worshiping the Lamb who was slain for our sins.

We’re moved by the vision you’ve shared, a longing to gather a family of believers who truly live and give as one, sharing not only the gospel but daily bread and daily life. That heart echoes the kind of koinonia we see in the early church, where care for the most vulnerable flowed naturally from their love for Jesus. It’s a beautiful picture, and we’re grateful you carry it.

If we were sitting together, we might gently ask: What would it look like to take a first step right where you are? Maybe that begins with a few trusted brothers or sisters praying with you, dreaming together, and asking God for wisdom and timing. We’d also encourage you to walk closely with spiritually mature believers who can help you test and shape this calling. Even large dreams often start small, maybe a shared meal, a regular prayer gathering, or simply getting to know others who already serve the homeless in your city. Proximity to real need has a way of refining our plans and keeping us humble.

That said, we don’t want to dampen the fire. Your desire to open both a home and your heart to those without shelter or food is a genuine work of the Spirit. We’ll simply hold it with you before the Lord, trusting that he who puts such a desire in you will lead you step by step.

Please pray with us: Father, thank you for this brother who longs to build a community where no one goes hungry or unseen. Give him clarity, wise companions, and open doors in your time. Above all, keep his own soul rooted in Jesus, the one who had no place to lay his head, yet offers us an eternal home. Shelter and feed those who are alone right now, and use your church to bring them real hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Your heart leaps with a zeal that I trust is kindled from above, yet let me stir you to see that the holy communism of the early church was not a mere arrangement of goods but a living union of souls who had first laid their all at the feet of a crucified and risen Lord. A man may share bread and roof and yet possess a heart far from the kingdom if he has not been broken by the law and bound to Christ by a living, loving, lasting tie. I read your words and tremble, for a church of outward sharing without inward sanctity is but a farmhouse for the devil’s tares, and an unholy professor within her walls becomes a concealed soldier to open the gates of Troy to the besiegers.

Do you know anything of this living union, Christ in you and you in Him, your life swallowed up in His, till your very eating, drinking, and sleeping breathe eternal life? God dwells not with the man who merely forsakes private property, but with him that is of a poor and contrite spirit and trembles at His word. The streets of the New Jerusalem are paved with transparent gold, yet to the heart that is proud of its sacrifice these same beams become a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence. The fountain of living waters is flung away while we hew out our communal cisterns, and soon we find them broken and dry.

I charge you, then, prove the power of the Holy Spirit in your own soul before you rally others. Christ has power to work spiritual miracles this very hour, and He is able to meet every case of distress and sorrow, yours included. If you come to Him with nothing good in yourself, casting away all your own intentions as bubbles blown by a child, He will receive you. Then, and only then, will you find that His infinite peace breathes calm into a vacillating spirit, and the church He builds through you will be an assembly of holy priests offering spiritual sacrifices, not a band of well-meaning wanderers clutching a common purse. Seek Him, and let the union be so real that even if persecuting days should come, you would stand like a rock amidst the waves, for a church that is not prepared to suffer for Christ is not Christ’s church at all.

I see your desire to live according to the pattern in Acts, holding all things in common and showing mercy to those without home or food. Such zeal is a precious gift, but let it be seasoned with wisdom. Do not confuse the outward form with the inward grace. The sharing of goods among the first believers was not a law for every age; it was the spontaneous fruit of hearts united by the Holy Spirit. The church is not defined by shared houses or property, but by the truth it upholds. As the Apostle says, the house of God is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. Without right doctrine and holiness, even a community with all things in common becomes but a noisy shell.

You speak of building this in one of the greatest cities. But consider: what are the earthly cities, even the most splendid? Earth and ashes. Mix a little water with their glory, and it is clay. Do not make such things your master. The true city to which you have come is the heavenly Jerusalem, Mount Sion, the assembly of the firstborn written in heaven. That is the city where our names are enrolled, not any metropolis of this passing world. When you enter the church, whether a rented room or a cathedral, you enter a procession far greater than any earthly parade. Therefore, do not adorn the body or the outward arrangement while neglecting the soul. Many are careful to wash their hands but present a defiled heart to God.

Help the homeless indeed; feed them, give drink, and above all proclaim the gospel. But let your gathering be built on the confession that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Mediator of a new covenant, whose blood speaks better than that of Abel. Let the unity of love be the sign, not the pooling of possessions. The Church is subject to Christ as her head, and He is the Savior of the body. If you keep this foundation, then whatever city you inhabit, you will be living as citizens of the Jerusalem above, awaiting the kingdom that will come in full. Until that day, let your community be known not by shared wallets but by shared truth, and your charity not by a common roof but by a common faith working through love.

You carry a clear love for those who are homeless and alone, and that desire to share food, drink, and the good news of Jesus Christ is a beautiful thing. Do not let that compassion grow cold. But I want to urge you to guard the heart of the gospel itself above any particular vision for how the church should organize its life.

There is only one true gospel, the gospel of the grace of God through Jesus Christ. When the church loses its grip on that, it can quickly become just another religious institution in the world. Nations have come under the influence of churches and remained unchanged; nations and people transformed by the gospel of grace bear clear fruit. So the question is never only whether we share goods and live together, but whether the message we proclaim and the life we build together keep grace and justification by faith at the very center.

In the early days of the church in Jerusalem, believers did sell their possessions and distribute to anyone who had need, and Scripture records that. But it also records that murmuring arose, that financial problems soon followed, and that the experiment in communal living did not become the fixed pattern for every church. The whole church remained one body, Jew and Gentile, but the deep financial need in Jerusalem required offerings from other churches. That sharing was an expression of love, not a return to all things being held in common as a permanent command.

Paul gave himself to proclaiming the gospel and building up strong bodies of believers. He urged the churches to lay aside offerings for the suffering believers in Jerusalem. He did not call every city to replicate the exact form of Jerusalem’s earliest days. He kept his focus on the debt we owe to Jesus Christ and the obligation to share His gospel with all people, wherever God might send us.

So keep your heart open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The need among the homeless is real. The call to love in practical ways is real. But let the church be built first on the gospel of grace, and let the Spirit direct the shape it takes as you go. Christ will return, and we will feast together in His kingdom. Until then, press on with that compassion, but test every structure and every vision by whether it holds fast to the good news that we are saved by grace alone through faith.
