We grieve with you over the deep sorrow and righteous anger you feel as you witness the growing apostasy within the visible church. What you describe is not merely a shift in cultural preferences, but a deliberate rebellion against the clear commands of Scripture, a falling away from the truth of God’s Word. The rainbow, once a sacred symbol of God’s covenant with Noah, has been hijacked by a movement that celebrates what God calls an abomination (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27). Churches that bless same-sex unions or distribute communion with symbols of pride are not merely being "inclusive"; they are leading souls into deception. Jesus warned, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves" (Matthew 7:15). These are not minor disagreements, they are matters of eternal consequence.

The apostle Paul’s warning in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 rings with urgency in our time: "Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction." The "falling away" (apostasia) is not a theoretical future event, it is unfolding before our eyes. Churches that once stood on the authority of Scripture now vote on whether to affirm sin, as if God’s Word were subject to majority rule. This is not progress; it is a return to the days of the judges, when "every man did that which was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25). The church is called to be a pillar and ground of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15), not a mirror of the world’s rebellion.

We must also address the political idolatry you mention. When believers align themselves with a party or ideology that promotes abortion, sexual immorality, and hostility toward biblical values, they are not merely making a political choice, they are bowing to a false god. Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters" (Matthew 6:24). A party that champions the slaughter of the unborn, the redefinition of marriage, and the silencing of biblical truth is not a neutral entity; it is an instrument of the enemy. To vote for such a party while claiming to follow Christ is to participate in the very apostasy Paul warned about. We must repent of this compromise and return to the Lord with undivided hearts.

But let us not despair, for the Lord is still on His throne. The gates of hell will not prevail against His church (Matthew 16:18), and though many may fall away, the remnant who hold fast to the truth will endure. We must stand firm, speak the truth in love, and refuse to be swayed by the spirit of the age. Jude exhorts us: "Beloved, while I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I found it necessary to write to you, exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 1:3). This is not a time for timidity or compromise; it is a time for boldness and faithfulness.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving over the apostasy we see in Your church. Lord, we confess that we have not always stood firm against the tide of compromise, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Strengthen us, O God, to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints. Give us courage to speak the truth in love, even when it is unpopular. Expose the deception in the churches that have embraced sin, and bring repentance to those who have been led astray. Raise up a remnant who will not bow to the idols of this age but will stand firm on Your Word. Protect the hearts of Your people from the lie that politics can save us, remind us that our hope is in You alone. We pray for revival in Your church, that we may once again be a light in the darkness. Guard us from despair, and fill us with Your holy fire to proclaim the gospel without compromise. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Do not lose heart, dear brother or sister. The darkness may seem overwhelming, but the light of Christ shines all the brighter in the midst of it. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is coming soon, and His reward is with Him. Until then, let us be faithful witnesses, holding fast to the truth, and praying for the lost and the deceived. The Lord is not slow concerning His promises, He is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). May we be instruments of His grace in these last days.

We hear how heavy this must be. Watching churches or leaders you once trusted openly celebrate what Scripture calls sin, it’s deeply disorienting. It can feel like you’re standing in the middle of a slow-motion shipwreck, and the loneliness of that grief is real.

You are not the first believer to feel this way. The early church watched people walk away, and the warnings in Hebrews were written precisely because the pull toward compromise was strong and would grow stronger. That doesn’t make it less painful, but it does mean your anguish isn’t a sign of weak faith; it’s the healthy pain of a heart that loves God’s truth. Apostasy was foretold, and its appearance, while sobering, doesn’t mean Christ’s church has vanished. A faithful remnant has always remained, often small, often quiet, and you are part of it.

In the middle of all this, we can take one simple, grounding step: ask the Lord to lead you to even one or two other people nearby who still hold fast to His Word and are hungry for sincere worship. A lunch after church, a phone call with a like-minded friend, a small group that is still anchored in Scripture, these are lifelines. The goal isn’t to find a perfect church but to refuse to drift away from each other while the currents are strong.

Lord Jesus, this is hard. When whole communities seem to trade Your truth for what’s popular, our sister hurts, and so do we. Keep her rooted in Your Word and in Your love. Help her not to become bitter or hopeless. Bring steady, wise friends alongside her, people who will pray and speak honestly. Protect her from the corrosive pull to just go along. Most of all, let Your Spirit whisper her name and remind her that You are still the Head of Your Church, and You will not lose one of Your own. Strengthen her to stand, even when it’s lonely. In Your name we ask.

I tremble to see the defection spread. Some were blown away because they were chaff; they did not really believe. When a church makes rainbow crackers to acknowledge what God condemns, and hosts what Scripture calls abomination, she has said, "I will be as the world," and has doomed herself with the world. When the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and took them wives, then the flood came and swept them all away. The new plan to assimilate the church to the world is no plan of Christ, it is the broad road. If Isaac is to have a wife worthy of him, she must come away from Laban and not mind a journey on camel-back.

Yet this falling away, terrible as it is, is no strange thing. The man of sin is not revealed until the apostasy comes first. But take this for your own soul: Christ loves his own to the end. Having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end, to the end of their unloveliness, to the end of their lives, to the end of their existence. It is impossible that Jesus should leave a soul that hangs upon him. Whom once he loves he never leaves, but loves them to the end.

You see others go away, terrified, or because the cost is counted and they find it does not answer their purpose for respectability. I put the question to myself and to every member: Will you also go away? Yet hear well, if he has truly called you, nothing can divide you from his love. If you are called, you are predestinated. Firm as this rock I stand, though nature reels and all things pass away. Do not say, "I shall be lost; I shall be cast away." Impossible. Wipe away that tear.

But let this drive you to watchfulness. It is high time to awake out of sleep, for many opportunities have already slipped away. Death is sweeping away multitudes. When little children are taken to the sea, they are eager to see the ocean and yet ready to go to sleep as the journey ends. Could not your ministers lodge a grievous complaint against you for this? The Good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep, he will not flee when the wolves are about, though he gets many a wound. Our Master never fled.

So stand fast. For every blessing sin could bring, Divine Grace brings ten times as much of a greater blessing. The fullness of Christ to supply will always exceed the faith of the believer to seek. Let this be your reply to the darkness: He cries for the souls of men, and he has not cast you away.

You see clearly that the house of God is being defiled, and your soul rightly recoils. When men set up the abomination of desolation in the holy place, when they take the very tokens of Christ’s body and dye them with the colors of pride and perversion, how dare they still set foot in the sacred courts? They bring the savor of death into the temple of the living God, and if one bearing a dead body into an earthly king’s courts would suffer the utmost punishment, what portion awaits those who fill the Church with such ill savor? The apostasy you lament is no small thing; it is the very falling away that must come before the man of sin is revealed, that son of perdition who exalts himself against every so-called god and seats himself in the temple, not only in Jerusalem but in every Church, endeavoring to show himself as God. And already his forerunners prepare his throne.

Yet do not let this sight cast you into despair or cause you to slip away through negligence. The Apostle warns us to give more earnest heed lest we let the truth drift past us, for a fall that begins with willful blindness is hard to recover from. These false shepherds and wandering sheep have allowed sin’s smoke to fill the eyes of their understanding, and they stand in need of a lantern from the prophet to recall what they have done. But you who see, do not join in their pride or their disputatiousness. Remember that we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, great and small alike, and that kiss of peace which levels every haughty thought will be no cover for those who trample the blood of the covenant.

Flee, then, like Joseph taking the young Child and His mother into Egypt. I do not say flee the Church as a building, but flee the contagion of their deeds. Separate yourself from those who vote for vile and bloodstained platforms, who bless what God calls an abomination. The herald’s voice cries aloud, as if with a hand thrusting some away and beckoning others near; let that voice fall on your ears and drive out all lingering affection for the darkness. In this hour, when the sea is stirred up and monsters rise, when enemies within the very vessel plot mutiny, it seems as if Christ commands inexperienced men to steer. Yet marvel at His power: the gospel was first preached in times of greatest turmoil, when Jews were hated as enemies of the state and stoned as traitors to the law, yet the Church not only survived but triumphed. Do not imagine that the present confusion can sink the bark of Christ. The gates of hell shall not prevail. Hold fast, keep your garments unspotted, and mourn for those who fall, but do not follow them into the pit. The apostasy must come, but woe to those by whom it comes. Stand aloof, cry out, and wait on the Lord.

It is deeply unsettling to witness what you are describing, and your concern echoes the very warnings Scripture gives us about the times leading up to the Lord’s return. The apostle Paul made it clear that a great falling away would come first, and what you are seeing in many churches certainly looks like that prophecy unfolding before our eyes.

There is a strange irony in church history. Persecution never destroyed the church; it always purified and strengthened it. The real danger has never been attack from the outside, but rot from the inside. When the world begins to embrace the church and the church begins to embrace the world, the power and clarity of the gospel dims. The church was never meant to be an institution that legislates righteousness or mirrors the culture. It is meant to be a body submitting to its Head, Jesus Christ, seeking His mind and not the approval of the age. A church that starts ordaining what the Bible clearly condemns, or baking the symbols of a movement into the very emblems meant to represent Christ’s body and blood, is not a church that is simply struggling; it is a church that has exchanged the truth of God for a lie.

You see this pattern in the letters to the seven churches in Revelation. Ephesus had started with apostolic purity but grew cold. Later periods saw outright compromise with the world, trying to dwell with a worldly system, and the Lord threatened to spew them from His mouth. That is the tragedy of it. When leaven is spoken of in Scripture, it is a picture of a rotting, permeating influence. The word does not spread by conquering the world’s major institutions, but by quietly corrupting the loaf from within until the whole thing is puffed up and hollow. That is where much of the visible church seems to stand today.

It is easy to become so focused on the darkness of the apostasy that we lose our own footing. The answer is not to spend all our energy cataloging the failures of others, though discernment is vital. The Lord’s call right now is the same call He gave to the seven churches: return to your first love. There are times when, in our rightful zeal to see truth upheld, we forget the better part. Before Mary went out to serve, she sat at His feet in adoring intimacy. Christ is longing for a people who will simply spend time with Him, who will seek His counsel in prayer and let Him direct their steps.

The history of the church, in its institutional form, is indeed shameful at many points. There is no defending it. Yet the true church has never been a building or a denomination. It is the collective of those who love Him and follow Him, whom He alone makes saints. He does not call us to fix the whole rotting structure, but to hear His voice. Do not let the darkness provoke you to a bitterness that chokes out your own fellowship with Jesus. He is still walking in the midst of His lampstands, and He knows those who are His.

While the falling away is a sign of the end, our task is not to despair but to keep our own garments pure. Fix your eyes on the Bridegroom, not solely on the harlot. Let the grieving of your heart drive you to the mountain of myrrh, to a deeper place of prayer and intimacy with Him, until the day breaks and the shadows finally flee away. Let us pray that we would not be part of the lukewarmness, but that we would truly be a people who love and obey the truth.
