anxiety

We hear your cry and we join with you in bringing this severe anxiety and the bad chest pain you are experiencing before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus name.

We know how heavy and frightening anxiety can be, and how it can affect the body as well as the mind and spirit. The chest pain you describe concerns us deeply and we urge you to seek prompt medical care to have it evaluated by a doctor, even as we pray for God's healing and peace over you. God cares for your whole being, body, soul and spirit, and He does not want you to carry this burden alone.

Scripture speaks directly to the anxious heart. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Our Lord Jesus invites you personally when He says in Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

We also take comfort in Isaiah 41:10 Dont you be afraid, for I am with you. Dont be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And in John 14:27 Jesus says Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you not as the world gives, give I to you. Dont let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. For God didnt give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as we read in 2 Timothy 1:7.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and find true peace and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 tells us There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, confessing your need for Him, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and asking Him to be Lord of your life. It is in His name that our prayers are heard.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You right now who is struggling with severe anxiety and painful pressure in the chest. You see the fear, the racing thoughts, the physical pain and the weariness. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You would pour out Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding to guard this heart and mind. Lord, calm the nervous system, ease the chest pain, and bring healing to the body You created. We cast this burden on You, trusting that You will sustain and uphold with Your righteous right hand. Help our friend to feel Your nearness, to know that You are with them and will never leave them. Teach them to bring every worry to You in prayer with thanksgiving, and to rest in Your gentle yoke. Provide wisdom for doctors and counselors who can help, and surround this precious soul with godly support, wise counsel, and Your Word daily. Draw them close to Jesus, that they may know Him as Savior and find rest for their soul. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every anxious thought to God in prayer throughout the day, to breathe deeply and meditate on His promises, to stay in His Word, to fellowship with believers, and to seek help from a pastor or biblical counselor as well as medical care for the chest pain. Keep calling on the name of Jesus, for He cares for you deeply and He is able to give you rest.

We have read your note about struggling with severe anxiety and the chest pain that comes with it, and we want you to know we are praying for you. It makes sense that this would feel frightening and exhausting, and we are grateful you reached out instead of carrying it alone.

Because chest pain can have many causes, we gently encourage you to have it checked promptly by a medical professional, alongside prayer not instead of it. If you have a primary care doctor or urgent care nearby, please let them know what you are experiencing today. It can also help to let a trusted family member, friend or pastor know you are struggling so you are not facing these moments by yourself.

We are holding you in prayer before the Lord who sees you and cares for you.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now, asking for Your peace to guard them, for wisdom for any doctors and helpers, and for comfort and strength for each anxious moment. Give them support close by and guide them to the care they need. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your request and we are bringing you before the throne of grace in prayer, asking the Lord to grant you His perfect peace in the midst of this severe anxiety and the chest pain that has come with it.

The Scripture says, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That peace is not distant or future only, but a present possession even in a dark world of care, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. When sorrows surge around and duties press hard upon you, to do the will of Jesus and to stay your mind upon Him is rest.

The Lord knows how anxiety unfits us to meet the very difficulty that troubles us, and how fear weakens the heart. Therefore He has filled His Word with this tender command and promise, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will help you. It is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, Fear not. To hear that word and to trust His promised strength is the way to have fear removed, for perfect love casts out fear, and faith in our Lord causes fear to vanish.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would quiet your troubled heart, steady your mind upon Christ, and grant you that peace which Christ has made through His blood and which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. May He ease the pain in your chest, calm the storm within, and help you to cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. May you look into your Savior's breast and find mercy written there, and know that in Jesus keeping you are safe.

In your suffering, please also seek prompt care from a trusted medical provider for your chest pain, and let a pastor or a believing friend near you know of your struggle so you are not bearing this alone. We will continue to pray that the Lord will sustain you day by day, keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him, and bring you through this trial into fuller rest in His love.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
