Your request for prayer has been heard, and we have brought your anxiety, your work, and your need for peace before the Lord.

The feeling you describe of being overwhelmed is not unfamiliar in Scripture. David knew it well. At one point he was filled with fear and trembling and wished he could have wings like a dove to fly away from his trouble. What changed for him was learning to cast his burden upon the Lord. When he turned his difficulty over to God, he could then declare with confidence that God was his helper and the one who upholds his life. Your prayers can lead you to that same place. Instead of carrying the weight of every task and every worry yourself, you can place it fully in His hands and trust that He will take care of it. That is where confidence comes from, not from your own strength, but from looking at the greatness and power of God and knowing He is for you.

Scripture makes a helpful distinction that speaks directly to what you are feeling. There is peace with God, which comes the moment you are reconciled to Him through the blood of Jesus Christ. And there is the peace of God, which guards your heart and mind day by day. Many who have peace with God still live without the peace of God because their minds remain fixed on the turmoil around them. The promise given in Isaiah is that He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him. In Philippians we are told to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer to let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which passes all understanding will keep our hearts and minds in Christ. That peace comes as you turn your attention away from the pressures at work and fix your mind steadily upon Him, resting your case completely in His hands.

This is also a matter of where your mind dwells. To be focused on the things of the flesh brings death and unrest, but to be focused on the things of the Spirit brings life and peace. There is a real spiritual battle for the control of your mind, and the enemy seeks to capture it with worry and fear. The way to stand is with spiritual weapons, with the mind of Christ, which is a humble mind submitted to God and willing to serve others in love. You cannot know lasting peace until you know His grace, for grace must come before peace can remain. As you walk after the Spirit and set your mind on Him, His peace will begin to fill your heart.

We are also praying for your workplace as you asked. The wisdom that comes from God is peaceable and gentle, and it leads to peace. The wisdom of this world leads to strife. God desires for you to live in peace and to be a sower of peace where you work. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers, and James teaches that the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. We are asking God to give you that heavenly wisdom, to help you do your tasks well, and to bring a more respectful and comfortable environment among those you work with, as you sow peace in return.

We pray for you now. Father, we bring this dear one to You who feels anxious and overwhelmed. Grant first the deep assurance of Your grace through Jesus, and then let the peace of Christ that passes understanding guard the heart and mind. Help to cast every burden upon You and to keep the mind stayed upon You. Replace anxiety with confidence that You are the helper and sustainer of life. Give strength and clarity for every task at work, and let Your wisdom bring a spirit of respect and peace into that workplace. Dispel fear and establish that quiet confidence that You are in control. In the name of Jesus we ask this, Amen.
