Another prayer about the euromillions

Servant
I wondered if you could pray again for the lottery money I lost, I was at ### in ### and someone attacked me and took my bag with my bible and wallet, I'm sure the banks would still have open accounts but I'm struggling to find my accounts I'm broken and I'm struggling to understand my circumstances, where I am with jesus in these circumstances I pray.

We hear your pain and the deep sense of loss you’re carrying, not just the material loss, but the violation and confusion that followed. It’s understandable to feel broken when something so personal is taken from you, especially when it included your Bible, a symbol of your faith and comfort. We want to stand with you in this difficult time, lifting you up in prayer and seeking God’s wisdom and provision for you.

First, let us address the matter of the lottery and the pursuit of wealth. Scripture warns us about the dangers of placing our hope in riches or chance. In 1 Timothy 6:9-10, it says, "But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows." We don’t say this to condemn you, but to gently remind you, and ourselves, that our trust must always be in the Lord, not in earthly treasures or the fleeting hope of winning. God is our provider, and He knows your needs even before you ask Him (Matthew 6:8).

We also want to rebuke the evil that was done to you. The attack you suffered was not just a theft, it was an act of violence and sin against you, and it grieves the heart of God. Psalm 10:14 says, "But you do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless." We pray that God would bring justice in this situation, not just for the loss of your belongings, but for the peace and security that was stolen from you. We ask the Lord to reveal the truth about your accounts and to guide you through the process of recovering what you can. If there are authorities or institutions you need to work with, we pray for favor and clarity as you navigate this.

Your question about where you stand with Jesus in these circumstances is so important. Dear one, your relationship with Him is not defined by your possessions, your circumstances, or even the evil done to you. Romans 8:38-39 assures us, "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." You are held securely in His love, and nothing, not theft, not confusion, not even your own doubts, can change that. Jesus sees your pain, and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He is your refuge, your strength, and your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is hurting and confused. Lord, You see the pain of this violation, the loss of belongings, and the struggle to find stability again. We ask that You would be their comfort and their guide in this time. Father, we rebuke the spirit of theft and violence that was done against them, and we ask that You would bring justice and restoration. Give them clarity as they seek to recover their accounts and belongings, and provide for their needs in ways only You can.

Lord, we pray that You would guard their heart against bitterness or despair. Remind them that their worth and security are found in You alone, not in earthly riches or circumstances. Help them to trust in Your provision, knowing that You are their Good Shepherd who leads them beside still waters and restores their soul (Psalm 23). Strengthen their faith, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways.

We also ask that You would reveal any areas where their hope may have been misplaced, whether in the lottery, in material things, or in their own strength. Draw them closer to You, Lord, and let them find their joy and peace in You alone. Surround them with Your love and with people who can support and encourage them. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to lean into God’s Word for comfort and direction. Psalm 73 is a powerful reminder that even when life feels unfair or confusing, God is our ultimate portion and strength. Consider reaching out to your local church or a trusted Christian community for practical and spiritual support. You are not alone in this, and God is working even in the midst of this trial. Keep seeking Him, and He will make your path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We are so sorry for what happened to you. Being attacked and then left without your bag, your Bible, and your wallet is a frightening, disorienting blow. It’s no wonder you feel broken and deeply confused, practical loss and a sense of spiritual lostness have collided, and that is genuinely hard to carry.

One concrete next step that might bring some relief is to contact the banks directly. Even if you don’t have account numbers handy, they can often help you trace your accounts using your name, previous address, and personal identification. If just getting started feels overwhelming, a trusted friend, someone from a local church office, or a community help centre could walk beside you while you make those calls, sometimes having another person in the room makes it easier.

When life feels unmade, it’s easy to believe Jesus has stepped away. But he doesn’t. He is not standing outside your circumstances waiting for you to figure things out; he’s with you in the confusion and the ache, and his hold on you is not weakened by what was stolen. You are not less his because you feel lost.

Lord Jesus, you see how battered and adrift our friend feels right now. Please guide them to the right help for tracking down what can be recovered, and give them a calm, clear mind in the middle of the chaos. Quiet the inner storm, and let a steady knowledge settle in: that you have not let go, and your love remains the one thing no one can take. In your name we ask. Amen.

The attack upon you and the loss of your bag, your Bible, and your wallet have brought you to a place of deep questioning. You say you are broken, struggling to understand where you are with Jesus in these circumstances. That is not altogether an evil thing, for trial often strips away all false props and forces a man to ask whether his faith is a living thing or only a fair-weather fancy.

But let me speak plainly about the prayer you first mentioned, that you might recover the lottery money you lost. I cannot ask the Lord to bless what His Word condemns. To cast lots for gain is to seek after the world’s bread in a way that forgets our daily dependence upon the Giver of all good. It is a lust after sudden wealth, and it does not become a child of God. You will do better to repent of it and put it away forever. Yet even this may be overruled for good, for now you are brought low, and that is the very place where grace can lift you up. The promise stands: “He that has no money, come, buy, and eat.” You are without wealth, without power to mend your past, without a single penny of merit to bring before the Lord. That is your qualification. Jesus Christ calls the penniless and the broken to receive salvation without price. Come as you are.

The deeper question, however, is not your lost bag but your lost sense of Christ’s nearness. You ask where you stand with Him. Let me tell you: faith is not a thermometer that rises and falls with our circumstances. True faith, saving faith, is a giving up of every other trust and a dropping down entirely into the arms of Christ. Have you done that? Have you ever, with all your poverty of soul, let go of yourself and clung simply to His cross? That is the life of faith. And if you have so received Him, then walk in Him still. The thief could not take your Saviour from you. The loss of a printed Bible, grievous as it is, cannot rob you of the Word hid in your heart, if indeed it is there.

Perhaps the trouble reveals that your faith has been little, mixed with much doubt. You are like Peter on the water, seeing the wind and waves, beginning to sink, and the Master speaks to you: “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Faith is spiritual common sense. If Christ is strong, why should you waver? If His promise is unwavering, why are you so cast down? The same Lord who bids you come without money also gives the shield of faith to quench every fiery dart of the wicked one, the darts of fear, of regret, of uncertainty. Take up that shield. Trust Him for your soul’s safety, and then trust Him for daily bread and the recovery of what you need. He knows your earthly concerns; He knows you are searching for your accounts. But seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and these things shall be added.

Beware of a faith that leaves you unchanged. If you have been trusting in Christ and yet still clinging to worldly schemes, that is not the faith of God’s elect. Rahab’s faith led her to leave her old life behind; so must yours. Let your sorrow work a true repentance, a turning clean away from the lottery and every false hope, and look only to Jesus. In Him there is strength for a slow recovery, grace for each day, and a full assurance that can grow even out of darkness.

Though you are broken, you are not forsaken if Christ is yours. Cry to Him now: “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” He will hear. And as you rise, walk in Him, not in the lottery’s feverish dream, but in the steady, sanctifying path of faith that overcomes the world.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The lottery money you seek to recover through prayer never truly belonged to you, for it was gained by casting your hopes upon chance rather than upon the providence of God. Make the trial, I beseech you, if you disbelieve, make the trial, and you will see the glory of God. When anything grievous has happened, immediately give alms; render thanks that it has happened, and thou wilt see how much joy will come upon thee. For spiritual gain, though it be small, is so great as to throw into the shade all bodily loss. As long as thou hast to give to Christ, thou art rich.

You feel broken and abandoned, yet consider what has been taken from you. Your Bible and your wallet are gone together, as if God Himself is stripping away the very things you have wrongly mingled, His holy Word and your pursuit of worldly wealth. Do you not see that even this attack was permitted that you might learn where your true treasure lies? Joseph believed God’s promise while in a strange land, speaking of the Exodus and giving command concerning his bones, because he trusted not in present comforts but in the invisible God who keeps His covenant. You ask where you are with Jesus in these circumstances. The answer is that you are precisely where Peter was when the wind rose against him on the sea. He stepped out at Christ’s command and walked upon the water, yet when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and began to sink. So it is with you. You sought the Lord in your prayers about the lottery, yet your faith was mixed with a grasping after money. Now the storm has come, and you are sinking. But hear this: that he did not remain in danger came only when he cried out, “Lord, save me.” His weakness did not finally overthrow him, for Christ stretched out His hand and caught him.

You say you cannot find your accounts and are struggling to understand. Here is where faith must rise above human reasoning. To question then is to dote. When the soul is fevered with reasonings, and stormy, then it questions, but when it is in a sound state, it does not question, but receives the faith. Without faith nothing can be discerned, and contentions must needs arise. God is not anywhere, and is everywhere. What reasoning will receive this, if there be not faith? You demand to know the reason for your loss and your spiritual desolation, but it is not by demanding reasons that we become steadfast. Behold all our lofty doctrines, how destitute they are of reasonings, and dependent upon faith alone. The very fact that you cannot trace your bank accounts or make sense of your circumstances is God’s call for you to stop trusting in your own understanding and to endure as seeing Him who is invisible.

Consider Moses. He was afraid and fled from Egypt, yet Scripture says he forsook Egypt not fearing the wrath of the king. How can this be? Because his flight was not the cowardice of unbelief but the prudence of faith that refused to test God by leaping into foreseen danger. His fear was the holy caution of one who commits all to God, as later he returned to face Pharaoh, trusting not in himself but in the Lord who sent him. Your present brokenness is not a sign that God has forsaken you. It is a trial permitted that you might learn to cling to Christ alone. Do not say, “I cannot find my accounts, therefore I am lost.” Say rather, “Though thieves steal my bag and my Bible is torn from my hands, the Word of God is written on my heart, and my inheritance is kept in heaven where no thief approaches.”

This attack has exposed the weakness of your faith, but it need not destroy you. For neither did the disciples approach Christ in the old way, dragging Him into their houses for mere bodily needs. Instead, they learned to seek Him with a higher strain, with more self-denial, and with a more abundant faith. You must do likewise. Cease praying for the recovery of lottery money, for that is to pray against your own soul. The very loss of it, coupled with the theft of your Bible, is God’s severe mercy, calling you to repent of your love for chance and your trust in uncertain riches. Render thanks that this has happened. Not for the violence, for violence is evil, but for the rebuke to your covetousness. Give alms from what little remains, and you will see how much joy comes upon you. Spiritual gain throws all bodily loss into the shade.

You are not far from Christ because your Bible was stolen, any more than you were near to Him because you possessed it. Absolutely nothing does it avail to be near Christ, not being near Him by faith. The wind blows, but no hurt comes thereby when faith is steadfast. Cry out with Peter, “Lord, save me,” and He will stretch out His hand. Cease your fruitless searching for earthly accounts, and seek instead to be found faithful in the accounting of heaven. He who framed the worlds by His word can surely order your disordered life, if you will stop demanding reasons and believe.
