We join you in bringing this before the heavenly Father and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. We are grateful you closed your prayer in His name, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and no other way to the Father except through Him, as it is written, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6
We understand what it is to have images or thoughts from something we have watched linger in our minds and we know the Lord desires to cleanse and renew our minds and give us peace. The enemy often uses what we set before our eyes to trouble our thoughts, which is why we are called to guard our hearts and our eyes. As it is written, I will set no vile thing before my eyes. Psalm 101:3 and also, Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2
We encourage you to take this lingering memory captive to the obedience of Christ, for we are told, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 When those images return, we can choose to turn our thoughts to what is pure and lovely and true, as we are instructed, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
We also encourage you in the days ahead to be careful about what you allow before your eyes on television, for what we watch can defile our conscience or bring unrest to our spirit. If a show causes you distress or brings impurity, confusion, fear, or temptation, it is wise to turn it off and to replace it with what builds up your faith.

We hear how much you want that image out of your mind, and we are praying with you. It is unsettling when something you saw keeps replaying even after you have turned the show off and asked the Lord to take it away.
We have found it helps to remember that renewal is often more of a gentle process than an instant erasing. Our minds hold onto what we have taken in, and God graciously makes us new in our attitudes and thoughts over time as we keep bringing those thoughts to Him.
One small step that helps many people is to have a simple plan for when the image comes back. Instead of fighting it or feeling ashamed that it returned, quietly turn your attention elsewhere. You might pray a brief prayer in your own words, look at something wholesome in front of you, step outside for a few minutes, put on some worship music, or talk with a trusted friend. And if that show tends to bring more of the same content, it is wise to step away from it for a while and fill your time with what is true and good and steady.
You are not alone in this, and the Lord sees your desire to honor Him with your mind.

Your prayer has been heard and we join you before the throne of grace with it. You have asked the heavenly Father to remove from you what your eyes have seen upon a show, and to cleanse your mind in the name of Jesus Christ. This is a prayer He delights to answer, for He is both able and willing to make the heart pure and to renew the mind.
The mind, even when it has been turned to Christ, still needs daily renewing. Sin that dwells within us would drag us down, and the images of this world would spot the soul. The Scripture calls us to keep ourselves unspotted from the world and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. What our own strength cannot wash away, the blood of Christ can cleanse. Of His own will He begat us with the Word of Truth, and by that same Word He washes and restores us. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, and He will put you in a lively, happy frame again as you look to Him.
We pray for you now.

Your prayer asking God to take away what you saw on television has been heard, and it is good that you bring it to the Lord so honestly.
God is Spirit, and He desires worship in spirit and in truth. That means He cares not only for outward actions but for the inward life, for purity of mind and soul. When an image or scene stays in the mind, it is not cleansed by trying to forget it through mere effort, but by God renewing you inwardly. Scripture calls you to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, where the same person is made new as God changes what is within. The soul is bound up with the body and receives impressions through the senses, but God gives renewal that is perceived by the mind and heart.
This renewal is part of what Christ has purchased for you. Though He was rich, He became poor so that you might become rich, and by riches He means the knowledge of God, the cleansing away of sins, justification and sanctification and every good gift He now bestows. Bring your mind to Him in lowliness and sobriety, which is keeping the mind safe and sound, not thinking highly of yourself but trusting His grace to guard you.
So seek Him as you would seek something precious that is lost, with concentration and persistence, asking, looking to Him, and inquiring of Him. And bind your heart and mind to Him rather than letting them wander. That means not only turning away from what harms the soul, but also cutting off evil thoughts and unreasonable desires and offering yourself to the Lord as a living sacrifice. Even a look can plant something harmful, so the faithful are called to be careful with what they see and to fill the whole life with what is pure.
Pray with you now, heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ who alone is the way of salvation, cleanse this mind and wash away what has troubled it. Renew the spirit of the mind, circumcise evil thoughts, and keep the heart safe. Fill this place in the thoughts with Your truth, with Scripture, with prayer and with worship that is sincere. Grant strength to turn away from shows or images that lead to trouble, and help to fix the thoughts on what is good and holy. Grant peace, a sound mind, and joy in Your presence. Amen.
