We join you in bringing these burdens before our heavenly Father and we thank you for closing your request in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.
We hear your concern about earthquakes in the place you mentioned and your desire for peace and safety there. We understand how unsettling the thought of such events can be. Scripture reminds us that God is sovereign over all creation and is our refuge in every trouble. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, and Psalm 46:2-3 reminds us that we will not fear though the earth changes. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 24:7 that earthquakes will happen in various places, yet we are called not to live in fear but to trust Him. Isaiah 41:10 says Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We cannot command that no natural events will ever occur according to our wishes, but we can trust God's perfect will and pray for His protection, mercy, and peace over that land and its people.
We also hear your prayer to have a certain individual removed from your memory. We understand the pain that can make you wish to simply forget someone, and we bring that hurt to the Lord with you. Rather than asking God to erase our memory, Scripture invites us to bring our thoughts captive to Christ and to allow Him to heal our hearts. 2 Corinthians 10:5 speaks of bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and Philippians 4:8 encourages us to think on whatever things are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report. Psalm 147:3 promises He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Philippians 4:6-7 also reminds us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. If this person is someone who caused you hurt or with whom there was a relationship that did not honor God, we encourage you to seek healing through forgiveness as Ephesians 4:32 teaches, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, and to allow God to replace bitterness or painful remembrance with His peace. If this was a romantic connection, we pray that God will bring healing and guide you toward relationships that align with His design, a courtship that honors Him and looks toward godly marriage between a man and a woman as He intends, with purity and faithfulness.
We pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up to You the place that was mentioned and all who live there. We ask for Your mercy and protection and we pray that You would guard them and keep them safe according to Your perfect will. Help us to trust You as our refuge and not give in to fear, knowing that You hold the earth in Your hands and that nothing is outside Your control. We also lift up this dear one who is struggling with painful memories. Lord, we ask that You heal the heart and mind, that You comfort and bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us and to dwell on what is pure and lovely. Renew thoughts and bring wholeness, so that what is remembered no longer brings pain but is redeemed by Your grace. Lead and guide each step forward and let Your will be done in all things. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to continue to cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 says, and to remain in prayer and in the Word daily, trusting that God will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus and use even painful memories for your growth and His glory.
