I prayed for this in Jesus Name. Amen.
We join with you in this request and bring it before our Heavenly Father together in the name of Jesus Christ.
We understand how a negative or unwanted song can linger in the mind and become a distraction or even a burden. God calls us to guard what we allow to dwell in our hearts and minds. As it is written, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. We are also called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.
We encourage you to not only ask God to remove what is negative, but to actively fill that space with what honors Him. We find that when we set no vile thing before our eyes Psalm 101:3 and instead let the word of Christ dwell in us richly Colossians 3:16, speaking to ourselves in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord Ephesians 5:19, the Lord replaces the unwanted noise with His peace.
We pray together now for you.
Heavenly Father, we thank You that we can come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other way to You. We lift up this dear one to You and ask that You would remove this negative song from their mind and memory. Wash it away by Your Spirit and set their mind at peace. Help them to take every thought captive and to fix their thoughts on You. Fill their heart and mouth with songs of praise to You, so that whatever they think and speak may be acceptable in Your sight Psalm 19:14. Renew their mind daily and guard their heart with Your perfect peace. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who hears even the groanings that cannot be uttered.
The mind itself is often the place of our sharpest trial, for intruding thoughts surround us like a plague of flies, here, there and everywhere. A song or a vain imagination may fasten itself upon the memory and return unbidden, and you are right to hate vain thoughts and to love the law of the Lord. The Psalmist teaches us that God not only watches our thoughts but is grieved by evil thoughts, and yet how precious are His thoughts toward us, thoughts of love from everlasting, constant and kind and gracious. He is reading your thoughts even now, and He knows your desire to be free from what defiles and distracts.
In the multitude of such thoughts there is comfort in this, that the Lord can give sacred comforts to delight the soul, and He can renew strength for those who wait upon Him. Sometimes renewal comes by a little rest in Christ, who is our quiet resting place when we are weary and heavy laden. Ask the Lord not only to take away the negative song that troubles you, but to undertake a fresh work in you and to give you a nobler tune. What is done with self reliance fails, but what is done with God reliance endures.
Therefore seek to cultivate thankful thoughts and believing thoughts and longing thoughts after Christ. Let Him have the best thoughts, the cream of them, and the first growth of your spirit. Fill the mind that has been vexed with that vain refrain with the Word of Christ dwelling richly within you, with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody in your heart to the Lord. Turn from the empty tune to the precious thoughts of God revealed in Scripture, for His thoughts are higher than our thoughts as the heavens are higher than the earth, and His way of cleansing is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, who was bound in our stead that we might go free.

Your prayer has been heard and I join with you in asking the Lord for help in this. It is a real burden when a song stays fixed in the mind and troubles the heart, bringing heaviness or restless thoughts when you long for peace.
Scripture teaches that what we give our attention to shapes our inner life. One kind of music and entertainment may delight for a moment but leaves a sting afterward, while the pure and beautiful song of the Lord remains vigorous in the soul and brings quietness. When the mind becomes crowded with what is unhelpful, it can be like an eye that is clouded and cannot see clearly. The way forward is not only to push the unwanted song away, but to fill the heart with what is good and true.
So let us pray together and also take practical steps before God.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this dear one to you. You see how this negative song has lodged in the mind and brings distress. I ask you to remove its hold, to cleanse the thoughts and bring stillness and clarity. Fill this heart instead with your peace and with songs that honor you. Help this one to set the mind on whatever is true, pure and lovely, and to remember that you alone give rest to the troubled soul. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation and hope, grant freedom and renewed joy. Amen.

It is true that a song can lodge itself in the mind and stay there, sometimes for years, repeating even when we do not want it. God knows how music works in our memory. In Scripture He even gave His people a song to remember so that its truth would stay with them. He understands how deeply a melody can imprint itself on our thoughts.
He also created you with the ability to choose where you set your mind. You are not helpless before whatever enters your thoughts. By His grace you can turn your attention and renew your mind in Him. The prophet Isaiah gives this promise, that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him.
The way a negative song is displaced is not only by trying to push it out, but by filling your mind with something better and true. God wants to give His people a new song, the song of deliverance and redemption through Jesus Christ. In heaven the redeemed sing, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain and has redeemed us by His blood. That is a song only those who have been redeemed can sing, a song of thanksgiving for being set free from darkness. When we set our hearts on the Lord, on His love for us and His power to save, that song of praise begins to take the place of what is empty or troubling.
So I encourage you to gently but firmly turn from that unwanted song whenever it comes, and invite the Lord to fill that space. Speak Scripture aloud, pray, and sing to Him in simple worship, even a few words like thank you Jesus for redeeming me, or worthy is the Lamb. Let your mind be stayed on Him through His Word and through praise throughout the day. Over time, as you keep choosing Him, His peace will guard your thoughts.
