We join you in prayer together in Jesus' name for deliverance and for the cleansing of your mind and memory, and we thank you for bringing this burden to the Father who hears us.

We understand how troubling it can be when a song, its sounds, words, and title linger in the mind and feel oppressive. We believe that our minds are a battleground and that God has given us authority in Christ to take every thought captive and to be renewed. Scripture reminds us, We are tearing down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.

We also take seriously that the enemy seeks to influence us through what we see and hear, which is why we are called to guard our hearts and minds. We will set no vile thing before our eyes Psalm 101:3, and we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds Romans 12:2. When we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, we have the promise that he will flee from us James 4:7.

We encourage you to not only pray for the removal of this memory, but to actively fill your mind with what is pure and praiseworthy. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. Replace that which troubles you with worship to the Lord, with Scripture reading aloud, and with hymns and spiritual songs that glorify Christ.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You that we have access to You only through Him, and that at His name every knee must bow and every evil spirit must flee. Father, we lift up this dear one to You and ask for Your deliverance and cleansing. In the name of Jesus Christ we rebuke and renounce every demonic influence, every evil and satanic spirit, and every assignment of the enemy that has sought to attach itself through this music, its sounds, its words, and its title. We ask You, Lord, to wash this mind with the blood of Jesus and to remove permanently from memory that which is defiling and oppressive. Fill this mind anew with Your peace, Your Word, and Your Holy Spirit. Renew this mind day by day and let no vile thing remain there. Help this dear one to walk in the authority given in Christ, to submit to You and to resist the devil, trusting that he must flee. Let this heart and mind be filled instead with songs of praise and with thoughts that honor You. We claim Your promise that You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in You. Thank you for reaching out so honestly. We can hear how distressing it is to have that song and its words and sounds looping in your mind when you want to be free of it, and how sincerely you want Jesus to clear it away.

It makes sense that you would want it gone permanently. Trying hard not to think about something often keeps it front and center, which can feel tormenting. Many believers find it more peaceful to gently turn their attention toward Christ when the memory surfaces rather than fighting the memory itself.

One simple practice that helps some is to have a plan for that moment. When the tune or title comes to mind, you might quietly call on Jesus, thank Him that you belong to Him and are safe in Him, and then turn to something that fills your mind with what is good, like a trusted hymn or worship song you love, a psalm, or time with a fellow believer. If this continues to trouble you, it can also help to share it personally with a pastor or mature Christian you trust so you are not carrying it alone and they can pray with you face to face.

We are praying for you and for quietness in your mind.

Father, we lift our friend to You. We ask for Your peace to guard their mind and heart, for freedom from torment, and for Your presence to be very near when these memories surface. Help them to rest in belonging to Jesus and to know Your gentle care day by day. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer for deliverance has been heard and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

There is a gracious voice from the excellent Glory which still says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, for I have found a ransom. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance from sin and from Satan if God had not thought of it Himself, and He has not only invented the way but He has found the ransom in the precious blood of His dear Son. It is by that ransom that we are delivered both from the guilt of sin and from the power of darkness, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it.

We understand the distress of having sounds and words fastened upon the memory, and how the adversary would use them to vex the soul with suggestions and insinuations. Yet we take comfort that all our afflictions and trials lie within the fence of omnipotent overruling, and that the Lord Himself sits as a Refiner at the door of the furnace. He will not suffer you to be tried above what you are able to bear, and He is able to snap the bands and set the captive free.

Let us pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, our only ransom and our only hope of salvation, we ask Thee to be gracious unto this soul who seeks deliverance. Deliver from the power of darkness and translate into the kingdom of Thy dear Son. Wash the memory in the blood of Christ, quiet the troubled thoughts, and cast out every evil influence that would harass and accuse. Take away the torment of these sounds and words that cling to the mind, and grant a renewed mind stayed upon Christ. Fill the heart instead with sacred memories, with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, and with the precious promises of Thy Word, that there may be no room for the tempter to lodge. Keep this dear one from going down to the pit, and keep back the soul from perishing, and cause this trial to become profitable as chastening from a Father's hand. Grant peace within the borders of the soul, and power to overcome evil with good, and grace to live and declare the works of the Lord. We ask this not because of any merit in us, but because Thou hast found a ransom, and because Christ has triumphed over sin and Satan. Amen.

Be encouraged to turn away from that music and from every occasion that would bring it again before eye or ear, and to give diligence to fill your mind daily with Scripture. Think upon things that are pure and lovely and of good report, and let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly. If the words return unbidden, meet them at once with prayer and with a verse of Scripture spoken aloud, and look again to Jesus who has already delivered you from the fascinating power of sin. He who has begun a good work will perfect it, and you shall yet say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

Your prayer for deliverance has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

We understand how distressing it can be when a song, with its sounds and words and title, stays in the mind and troubles the heart. Scripture teaches that Christ came for two great purposes, to deliver us from evil and to supply us with good. He has redeemed us and paid the ransom for us, not so that we would remain under bondage, but so that we might live as sons and daughters through Him and receive the Spirit of adoption. The Lord who delivered His servant from the mouth of the lion is able also to deliver from every evil work, and to keep us from the power of the enemy. He does not only deliver from outward danger, but He cleanses and renews the inner life.

We pray with you now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask for Your mercy and deliverance for this dear one. Wash away all that is unholy and oppressive, and remove the hold of this music, its sounds, its words and its title from memory. Cleanse the mind by Your Spirit and fill it with Your peace. Guard the heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus, and let no evil have dominion. Fill this place in the mind with what is true and pure and good, with Your Word and with songs that honor You. As you seek the Lord for this cleansing, continue to turn away from that music and from any source that brings it back. Do not listen again or dwell on it. Instead fill your mind daily with Scripture, with prayer, and with worship that is holy and edifying. When the memory returns, bring it at once to God in prayer and replace it with a psalm or a passage of Scripture spoken aloud. The renewal of the mind comes as we are instructed by the power that comes from Him, not by our own strength. Give thanks to Him who has granted deliverance, and trust that He who has begun a good work will keep you.

Be encouraged that God hears those who call on Him through Jesus Christ alone, and He is faithful to deliver and to keep. Keep seeking Him, remain in His Word, and walk in fellowship with other believers who can pray with you and encourage you.
