We join you in this prayer before our heavenly Father, asking for His help to guard our eyes and our hearts, and we thank you for bringing this desire before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.
We understand your request as a desire to honor God and others by not staring, whether out of curiosity, comparison, lust, or habit, and this is a godly desire. God calls us to exercise self control and to treat others with dignity and respect, seeing them as made in His image. Scripture teaches us to guard what we look upon. Job said I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman Job 31:1. Jesus taught us that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. We are also exhorted I will set no vile thing before my eyes Psalm 101:3 and Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you Proverbs 4:25. Our thoughts and our gaze are connected, which is why we are told Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8.
Staring at others can quickly become a way of objectifying them, coveting, or allowing envy and lust to take root, and it can make others feel dishonored or uncomfortable. God wants us to walk by the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16, and He promises No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. That way of escape often is simply to turn our eyes away, to pray in that moment, and to fix our minds on Christ.
We encourage you to practice turning your eyes gently and purposefully when you feel tempted to stare, to pray immediately for the person rather than focusing on their appearance, and to keep your heart occupied with what is pure and lovely. Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways Psalm 119:37 is a good daily prayer. If this has been a habitual struggle, bring it into the light with a trusted mature Christian believer for accountability, and stay in the Word and in prayer so your mind is renewed.

Your prayer for purity of the eyes is a good and needful prayer, and we join with you in it before the Lord.
The wise man says, Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. This is honest use of the eyes which God has given. Our Lord teaches that the eye is the inlet of the heart, and what a man allows his eyes to feed upon, that will soon live in his soul. To keep oneself unspotted requires careful self watching, for what a man is, that before long he does. A covenant with the eyes, as Job made, and a watch over the heart, are not optional adornments of faith, but belong to that purity which must go hand in hand with charity.
You do well to feel your need of help and to pray, Lead us not into temptation. That prayer is the language of humble self distrust which shrinks from the conflict and dreads the evil which temptation may work in us. He who prays it sincerely will not wilfully go into temptation, nor linger where the eye may be ensnared. He will turn the eye away, and fix it upon a better object. As one has said, we need eyes that wait upon the Lord as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, until He have mercy upon us. The Keeper of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, His eyes are ever upon His people for good, and He is able to open blind eyes and to keep wakeful and watchful eyes from wandering.
Look then straight before you to Christ Himself. Faith is as new eyes to the soul, and when the eye is fixed upon Him, upon His cross and His holiness, it is charmed and held and kept from roving after vanity. Seek not strength in your own resolve alone, for until self is brought low Christ cannot reign fully within, but ask the Lord daily to create in you a clean heart and to open your eyes to see the beauty of holiness, that you may find more delight in looking unto Jesus than in any fleeting glance elsewhere.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou hast put in this soul a desire after purity. Forgive all wandering of eye and thought, and wash us in the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Set a watch before our eyes, teach us to look right on in the strait and narrow way of self denial, and cause our eyes to wait upon Thee until Thou have mercy upon us. Keep this dear one unspotted from the world, and by Thy Spirit give power to turn away the eye from beholding vanity and to behold instead the Lord Jesus. In Jesus Christ's name we ask it, Amen.
