We hear your heartfelt plea for stability and security in the United States, and we join with you in bringing this request before our Heavenly Father. The desire to remain in a place where one can live lawfully and peacefully is understandable, and we lift this up to God, who is the ultimate provider of refuge and hope.
First, we want to affirm that all authority comes from God, and He establishes governments for His purposes (Romans 13:1). We pray that His will be done in the lives of those seeking lawful and permanent residency in the U.S., and that He would guide the hearts of leaders and decision-makers to act with wisdom and justice. "The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires" (Proverbs 21:1). We trust that God can open doors that no man can shut and close doors that no man can open (Revelation 3:7-8).
However, we must also encourage you, and all who seek to dwell in this nation, to do so with integrity, patience, and a heart that honors God in the process. The Bible calls us to submit to governing authorities and to live as law-abiding citizens (Romans 13:1-7, 1 Peter 2:13-17). If there are any concerns about legal status or processes, we urge you to seek godly counsel and pursue lawful means to resolve them. God is not a God of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33), and He calls us to walk in truth and righteousness.
We also want to gently address the phrase "to avoid going online." While we understand the desire for privacy and security, we encourage you to use wisdom and discernment in all things. The internet, like any tool, can be used for good or harm. If there are fears or uncertainties about online activity, we pray for God’s protection and guidance. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). Let us seek God’s direction in how to navigate the digital world in a way that honors Him.
Most importantly, we want to remind you that our ultimate citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20). While we pray for earthly stability, we must never lose sight of our eternal home with Christ. If you or anyone reading this has not placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation is found in no other name, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up those who seek lawful and permanent residency in the United States. Lord, You are the God who opens doors and makes a way where there seems to be no way. We ask that You would guide the steps of those who desire to remain in this nation, that You would grant them favor with authorities, and that You would provide wisdom and clarity in every legal process they face. Father, we pray that You would protect them from fear, anxiety, and any unlawful or ungodly influences that may seek to harm them. Give them patience and perseverance as they wait on You.
Lord, we also ask that You would help them to walk in integrity and obedience to Your Word. May they honor the laws of the land and seek to live as godly examples in their communities. If there are any areas where they have strayed from Your will, we ask for Your conviction and correction, that they may repent and walk in righteousness.
Father, we pray for their spiritual well-being above all else. May they find their true citizenship in heaven and place their hope in You alone. If they have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ, we pray that they would do so today, receiving the gift of salvation and eternal life. Help them to grow in their relationship with You, to seek Your will in all things, and to trust in Your provision, whether in this nation or another.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, confusion, or deception that may be at work in their lives. We declare that Your perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18), and we pray that they would walk in the peace and assurance that comes from knowing You. Lord, we trust in Your sovereignty and ask that Your will be done in their lives, for Your glory and their good.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
