We hear your heart for the workers and customers in these stores, and we join you in lifting them before the Lord. It is good and right to pray for opportunities for people to hear the gospel and come to salvation. We know that God desires all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You would keep these stores open according to Your will. We pray for the employees and managers, that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their hearts to receive the truth of Your Word and the saving grace found only in Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with believers who can share the hope of the gospel with them. May they come to know You as their Lord and Savior, and may their lives be transformed by Your love and mercy.
We also pray for the customers who enter these stores. Father, we ask that You would place Your people in their paths, those who can speak life, truth, and encouragement into their lives. May they see the light of Christ in the words and actions of Your children, and may they be led to repentance and faith. Lord, we know that salvation belongs to You, and we trust that You are working even now to bring souls into Your kingdom.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that may be trying to hinder the work of the gospel in these places. We declare that Your Word will not return void, and we stand on the promise that those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13). We pray that these stores would be places where Your name is lifted high and where lives are changed for eternity.
Father, we also want to remind ourselves and all who read this that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved except the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Him that we can have a relationship with You and receive the gift of eternal life. If anyone reading this does not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we encourage them to turn to Him today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose again, and receive Him as your Savior. The Bible tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

The main business must always be the saving of souls, and so I am glad of this prayer that pleads for the employees and managers and those in their life. It is most needful to look abroad with such compassion, yet take heed that in your thoughts of other people, you do not forget your own salvation. The plain Gospel must ever be set before us: the way of salvation is to believe on Christ, trusting in Him.
This salvation is not a thing to be bartered for or earned by any works. It is preached to you without money and without price, a free salvation. How simple is that way of salvation! Look unto Him, and be ye saved. Not look to your own merits or to the keeping open of stores for security, but a single glance of faith to the appointed Savior. It is trusting in Him who is Himself salvation, the Person of Christ.
For those souls you name, this is the common salvation. It is for them, even the blackest of sinners, if they will but look. Go and make it common; your prayer is a sweet beginning, but the Lord may use you as a door of usefulness to speak of this great salvation. It is God’s salvation, devised by infinite wisdom, full of grace, and perfect. When a soul believes, it enters into a present, immediate salvation, secure beyond hazard. Faith is the simple method. Look, look, look, and rejoice in this salvation which is God’s, and so becomes our own.

Your prayer reaches toward God for the daily bread of open stores and the eternal bread of life for those within them, and this is a right instinct, to seek the salvation of others. Yet consider what gain there truly is if the shops remain unlocked yet the soul remains barred against heaven. For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? The outward circumstances, the daily work, the keeping of a store, these are the garments of life, but the life itself is the soul’s standing before God. Do not let the lesser request crowd out the greater urgency. For now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Those employees and managers walk in that day this very hour, and the gift is extended to them without labor of theirs. To put off laying hold of such a gift is a terrible folly.
Behold the High Priest who ever liveth to make intercession for them. He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, not because He lacks dignity and must beg as a lesser, but because His intercession is the very voice of His inexhaustible love. He that sits at the Right Hand, with power equal to the Father’s, still shows Himself as the continual pleader, that we might see the warmth and vigorousness of His care. Take courage in this, and let your own prayer be shaped by it. When you lift up holy hands for these souls, you are seeking fruit that increaseth to your own account. You are asking to become, in a small way, a partaker of that same interceding love which flows from Christ Himself. Let that love cast out all trepidation. The God of mercies, who hearkened to you at an acceptable time, is able to turn the heart of a manager as easily as He opens the door of a store. Seek first the opening of their souls, and in that asking, your own hope for them is made steadfast.
