Scripture reminds us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We also recognize that work is not just about financial provision but about stewardship and purpose. In Genesis 2:15, we read, "Yahweh God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it." Work is part of God’s design for humanity, and He equips us with skills and opportunities to fulfill His purposes. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Indeed it is a warfare, this life, and an appointed time. To need daily bread is no strange thing, nor is it a sign of God's displeasure. The Lord gave and the Lord is the one who provides; our substance is but spending money for the journey, and we do not need as many camels and sheep as we suppose. The poor and the rich meet together, and Christ is the sustenance of them all.
Yet the greater need is always the inward one, for no man can keep alive his own soul. Let those who seek employment seek first the kingdom and His righteousness, for we must work the works of Him that sent us while it is day. If we set our hearts merely on getting bread, we have missed the sweeter portion, which is to know that our Redeemer lives and to cling to Him. Earthly want often drives the tendrils of the soul to wrap around the only sure support.
View all of life as a short space, and set small store by things below. The night comes when no man can work, but you need not depart from the living God in the time of trial. He who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, is able also to turn the captivity of His people and to lift up those who are cast down. Wait, therefore, all the days of your appointed time, until your change comes.
