More is accomplished in the unseen realm through such prayers than we will ever fully grasp this side of eternity.

What you are doing is opening a door. God, in His perfect wisdom, has chosen to work through the willing hearts of His people. He will not force anyone into His kingdom against their free will, but your prayer is the invitation for Him to work in their lives in ways He has been longing to. You are not trying to persuade a reluctant God; you are agreeing with His deepest desire for their salvation. Your persistent, heartfelt request gives Him the entry to pursue them with His love without violating the freedom He has given them.

Never underestimate the value of a prayer like this. It is not a small thing to labor in prayer for the lost. The real power behind the scenes, the quiet strength that moves a community and changes eternal destinies, is found in those who, like you, pray earnestly and specifically for others. You are taking your place in a great company of witnesses who have learned that prayer is not bound by distance or circumstance. A believer in one place, kneeling in prayer, can be an agent of rescue for someone across the city or across the world.

You also asked for forgiveness, and that is a petition our Lord has already secured for you. The ground is clear. His promise is that as we forgive, we ourselves are forgiven. So as you extend this mercy to others in your prayer for their salvation, you can rest fully in the mercy that Jesus Christ has already poured out for you. Let your confidence in His forgiveness be as strong as your hope for their salvation.
