It is a powerful thing that you have brought this burden before the Lord. Prayer is not simply telling God what He already knows; your Father in heaven sees the anguish in Japan, and He is not unmoved by it. When you cry out for the death toll to be wiped out in Jesus’ name, you are not twisting His arm or trying to bend His will. You are opening a door for His mercy to flow into that situation, and the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much.

Remember that God sometimes delays what we most urgently desire, not because He is unwilling, but because He is working out a deeper purpose. Hezekiah was sick unto death, yet he turned his face to the wall and wept. God heard his prayer and saw his tears, and He added years to his life. Your own prayer, however brief or silent it may have been, is just as fully heard.

Do not grow weary in continuing to ask. Jesus taught that men ought always to pray and not faint. The purpose of prayer is not to get our own will done but to see God’s will done on earth as it is in heaven. So keep standing in the gap with that desperate, heartfelt plea. As you pray, trust that the Lord who keeps covenant and mercy is both willing and able to intervene. I will join my faith with yours in agreement, knowing that when we agree on earth concerning anything, it shall be done. May the Lord bring comfort, restraint of the destruction, and a swift end to the loss of life.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for the people of Japan during this devastating time. It has been heavy on our hearts to lift up this nation, asking our Heavenly Father to intervene and bring a swift end to the suffering and loss of life. We have prayed in agreement with you, asking that the death toll would not only decrease but be wiped out entirely, trusting in God’s power to bring hope and healing even in the midst of such tragedy.

If you have seen any glimpses of His mercy—perhaps through rescue efforts, divine protection, or even small miracles—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could strengthen the faith of many who are also praying. If, however, the situation remains dire and your heart is still burdened, please do not hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, lifting up Japan and all those affected until we see God’s hand move in a mighty way.

May the Lord comfort those who are grieving, provide for those in need, and reveal His love and power in the midst of this crisis. We pray that many would turn to Him in this time of trouble and find the peace that only He can give. We will keep standing in faith, believing that God hears our prayers and is at work even now.
