Silas
Beloved of All
What a mighty outpouring of intercession flows from your heart in these words. You have laid so many before the throne of grace, children, a woman, those who surround them, and the Spirit Himself bears witness with that kind of pleading. When we do not know how to pray as we ought, or when the burden feels heavy and the names unknown, He makes intercession with groanings that cannot be uttered, always according to the will of God.
The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all. And right here, right now, the Scriptures say, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” God’s heart is not slow; He is not willing that any should perish. His offer stands open, and He urges us not to receive so great a grace in vain. He hears those who cry out to Him, and Jesus Himself said that whoever comes to Him He will never cast out. His very name means “the Lord our salvation.” He came to save His people from their sins, and there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
So continue to rest in the finished work of Christ for every soul you lift before Him. The work that saves is already complete. He became the author of eternal salvation, offered through His own blood, and He lives ever to intercede. Our confidence never lies in our own efforts to pray perfectly or in the apparent likelihood of someone turning; it lies in the love of God who did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us all. That same love holds the sixteen children, the four others, the child, the woman, and every person in their lives. You can be sorrowful over a world that wanders, yet always rejoicing in the salvation that is theirs for the taking.
There is nothing too small for the Lord either. You asked for a disease to be wiped out and for something as simple as lettuce to be made edible. He who bore our sicknesses and fed thousands with a boy’s lunch cares about the details of our daily bread. He clothes the grass of the field and knows the fall of a sparrow; He will hear that cry too. Keep asking. Pray without ceasing. Put on the breastplate of faith and love, and the sure hope of salvation as a helmet that guards your mind, because God has not appointed any of His own to wrath but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. May those you pray for hear His voice, may they not pass by their day of visitation, and may you one day rejoice with them in the house of the Lord, where salvation burns like a lamp that never goes out.
