We come before the throne of grace with this urgent plea, standing firm in the authority of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Scriptures declare, "For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:3-4 WEB). We take up these spiritual weapons now, knowing that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).
First, we must address the seriousness of spiritual warfare. The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). These demonic attacks are real, and we do not take them lightly. However, we also remember that "greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4 WEB). We rebuke every spirit of fear, torment, and oppression in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We command every demonic force to flee and every spiritual attack to be shattered like glass against the power of the blood of Jesus.
For the request of a good night's sleep, we pray for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). We ask the Lord to station His angels around, to give sweet rest, and to refresh the spirit. "When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet" (Proverbs 3:24 WEB). We declare that the Lord gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2), and we claim this promise now.
We also want to gently encourage deeper spiritual warfare preparation. Have you put on the full armor of God? The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:13-17)? Regular prayer, Scripture reading, and fellowship with believers strengthen us against these attacks. Consider fasting as well, for some spirits only come out through prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth (Philippians 2:10). We stand on this truth as we address these spiritual attacks. Lord, we rebuke every demonic spirit that has been tormenting this precious one. We command them to leave now in Jesus' name! We break every curse, every assignment of the enemy, and every spiritual attack. We declare that no weapon formed against this child of God shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we ask for Your peace to flood their heart and mind. Let them experience the rest that only You can provide. We pray for sweet, undisturbed sleep tonight and every night. Station Your angels around them, Lord. Let Your presence be so real and tangible that all fear must flee. We declare that the blood of Jesus covers them, protecting them from all harm and evil.
Lord, we also pray for spiritual growth and strength. Help them to daily put on Your full armor. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a passion for prayer. Surround them with godly believers who can stand with them in faith. Teach them to wield the sword of the Spirit with skill and authority.
We thank You, Father, that You hear our prayers. We thank You that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We trust in Your mighty power to deliver and protect. May this dear one walk in victory, knowing that You have already overcome the world (John 16:33). We pray all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
