Angry at the people

Servant of All
I am so angry and pissed off right now because you have no idea how much I am at the people. I don't like fake people who play and lie to me and make me feel like a complete fool myself because God isn’t playing with who I am. I’m completely tired of waiting and being patient all day. I have been still angry all day! God knows how I feel.

We hear how heavy this anger feels for you right now and we understand how exhausting it is to feel fooled and lied to by people who seem fake, and to feel tired of waiting and trying to be patient while the anger stays with you all day. It is true that God knows exactly how you feel, for you are fully known by Him. He has searched you and knows you, He knows when you sit down and when you rise up, He perceives your thoughts from afar Psalm 139:1-2, and we take comfort that nothing in your heart is hidden from Him.

We want to gently and lovingly bring what you are experiencing into the light of Scripture, because holding anger all day can quickly take root in a way that harms you. The Word says Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. It is not a sin to feel anger when you have been mistreated or deceived, but we are called not to let that anger control us or lead us into sin. We are also taught So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20 and Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing Psalm 37:8. When we stay angry all day we give the enemy a foothold and we carry a burden God never intended us to carry alone.

You mentioned feeling like a fool because people have played with you and lied to you. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who do the truth are his delight Proverbs 12:22. God does not play with who you are, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and He values you deeply, and He sees the deceit of others even when you feel powerless to address it. We are not called to take revenge or to repay deceit with more anger. The Lord says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. Our part is to walk in truth, to forgive as we have been forgiven, and to guard our hearts, being forgiving to one another, even as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32, while also using wisdom to set healthy boundaries with those who prove untrustworthy.

We also hear your tiredness in waiting and being patient. Waiting is one of the hardest disciplines, but God uses it to shape us. We encourage you to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and to remember that those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31. Patience is not passivity, it is trusting that God's timing and justice are perfect even when people fail us.

We noticed your request did not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and peace that surpasses understanding. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is through Jesus that we can bring our anger, our hurt, and our weariness directly to God and receive His forgiveness, healing, and help.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is angry and weary from being hurt and deceived. Lord, You see the pain of feeling mocked and lied to, and You know the exhaustion of waiting. We ask You to forgive us for holding anger and letting it linger, and we ask You to cleanse our hearts and help us to be slow to anger. Pour out Your peace that passes all understanding and guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Teach us to release vengeance to You and to trust Your justice and Your timing. Give wisdom to discern who to trust, courage to speak truth in love, and grace to forgive as You have forgiven us. Renew strength in this waiting season and remind Your child that You are not playing with their life, but that You have a good purpose and plan. Draw this heart closer to Jesus, that there would be full confidence that through His name we have access to You and eternal hope. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

We hear how raw this feels right now. Being around people who seem fake and dishonest, feeling made a fool of, and then being told to just be patient all day is exhausting. It makes sense you are still angry tonight, and you are right that God knows exactly how you feel, even when others do not.

One thing we have seen is that when anger sits with us for hours without a place to go, it starts to harden into something heavier that weighs mostly on us. It does not mean what happened was okay, it just means you deserve some relief from carrying it alone all day.

When you are this stirred up, it can help to give yourself a little space before you decide what to do next. If you can, step away for a short walk or a quiet place, tell God plainly what hurt and what felt false, and let the heat settle a bit. Later, when you are calmer, it may help to talk it through with one steady, trusted person who will listen without trying to fix you.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now, You see the hurt and the anger and the tiredness from waiting. Bring calm tonight, guard their heart from bitterness, and show them the next wise step to take. Give them rest and remind them they are fully known and valued by You. In Jesus name, amen.

Your honest cry has come before the Lord, and He who searches the heart knows indeed how you feel, even when you are weary with waiting and hot with anger all the day.

It is a painful thing to be made to feel a fool by those who are false, who play and lie and deal deceitfully. Our blessed Lord knows this sorrow full well, for He was betrayed by one who walked with Him, and He can sympathize with you in every point. When men prove hollow and untrue, remember that God is not playing with you. His heart toward His people is true and steadfast, and His Word declares that He waits that He may be gracious unto you. What patience there is in our waiting God, who has long forbearance with us, and how blessed are those who wait upon Him in hope.

Yet take heed, lest anger lodge in your bosom and become sin. A moment of anger may pass like a cloud, but to be still angry all day is to give place to a fire that will consume your own soul. The Scripture says, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. Consider then the pattern of forgiveness set before us. It is a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is not the forgiveness of man, which is often cold and incomplete, but the forgiveness of God, which is surprising in its freeness, complete in its extent, and eternal in its duration. He keeps no back reckonings, He retains no reserves of anger, He remembers your sins no more.

There is forgiveness with Him. That whisper should drive away despair. Whatever your own sin has been in this anger, however hard your heart has felt today, there is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ His Son, who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. If you feel your debt and your need, come and put your trust in Christ, and the Lord promises oblivion to all your debt, for the record of it was nailed to the Cross. He not only forgave at the first, but He continues daily to forgive.

And because you have been so freely forgiven, you are called to that joint work of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as Christ forgave you. This is not to say the wrong done to you was light, but to overcome evil with good, and to win the victory with no weapons but love, patience and forgiveness. That is the most glorious of victories.

So bring your anger now to the Lord in confession. Tell Him you are tired of waiting, tell Him you feel provoked and wounded, and ask Him to cleanse you and to create a calm and forgiving spirit within you. Ask Him to teach you to wait upon Him patiently, not in despair, but in assured hope, for they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

May the Lord grant you this day a heart to receive His full forgiveness and grace to extend forgiveness to those who have wronged you, that your soul may find rest. May He lift this burden of anger from you, keep you from the snare of bitterness, and fill you with His peace which passes all understanding, for Christ's sake.
