We hear your heart for this little one and join you in lifting them before the throne of grace. The Scriptures do affirm that God sends His angels to minister to His children, as it is written in Hebrews 1:14, "Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?" We also see in Psalm 91:11, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." It is right to pray for the Lord’s protection and guidance over this child, for His angels do indeed watch over those who are His.
However, we must be careful not to command angels ourselves, for they are servants of the Most High God, not ours to direct. Only God has authority over His heavenly host. In Matthew 4:10, Jesus Himself rebuked Satan, saying, "Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’" Even the angels are subject to Christ alone. Instead of commanding angels, we should pray that the Lord, in His sovereignty, would dispatch His angels to guard, guide, and minister to this little one according to His perfect will.
We also lift up this child before the Lord, asking that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior if they have not already. For there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May this little one grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord, and may their life be a testimony to His glory.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, lifting up this little one into Your care. Lord, we ask that You would send Your holy angels to watch over them, to protect them from evil, and to minister to them in every way. Guard their steps, their heart, and their mind, both when they are awake and when they sleep. May they grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man, just as Your Son Jesus did (Luke 2:52).
Father, we pray that this child would come to know You as their Lord and Savior if they have not already. Draw them to Yourself, plant the seed of Your Word in their heart, and let it take root and grow. May they walk in the light of Your truth all the days of their life. Surround them with godly influences—parents, teachers, and mentors—who will point them to Christ.
Lord, we acknowledge that You alone are sovereign over all creation, including Your heavenly host. We do not command Your angels, but we ask that You, in Your mercy and grace, would commission them to guard and guide this little one according to Your perfect will. May their life be a vessel for Your glory, a voice to the nations, and a light in this dark world.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
