Thank you for sharing these requests. It is a good thing to bring every concern before the Lord, whether it involves a friend facing a medical procedure or even the wellbeing of a beloved pet. He invites us to cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us.
Think of the men who carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus, even tearing through a roof to lower him down. Jesus saw their determination and their love, and He responded with both healing and forgiveness. Your concern for your friend in the hospital is that same kind of love. A true friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. When you pray for your friend today, you are acting like that friend who brings someone to Jesus, trusting that He is near to the brokenhearted and that He sets on high those who are low.
Do not underestimate the comfort your simple presence and prayers can bring. Job’s friends started well when they sat with him in silence, sharing his grief without words. It was when they began to lecture him and offer shallow explanations that they became miserable comforters. What your friend needs right now is pity shown from a friend, not answers. So stand with him in prayer, and if you can, remind him that he is not alone. The Lord hears.
Now for your cat, and your desire that all your pets would be safe, healthy, and kept from harm. God’s tender care extends to all His creatures. He gives rain upon the earth and provides for the animals of the field. We know not even a sparrow falls apart from His notice. It is not childish to ask Him to watch over the small lives in your home. Bring that request before Him in simple trust, knowing He delights in the prayers of His children.
In both matters, large and small, make your requests known to God. He is the one who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number. And He is also the one who gives rest in safety, so that you may lie down and none will make you afraid. I will join you in praying for your friend’s procedure, for your pets’ protection, and for your own peace of mind as you entrust these things to His faithful hands.
