Silas
Beloved of All
Your honest and urgent prayer has been heard, and I have brought your suffering before the Lord with compassion. To be in pain from inflammation, to be worried about your eyesight, and to feel scared about what this week may bring is a heavy burden, and God does not despise the affliction of the afflicted. When you cry to Him, He hears you.
Scripture tells us that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and the Gospels show again and again the tender compassion of Jesus as He healed those who were brought to Him. I believe with all my heart that healing comes from God. Sometimes He heals instantly with a word or a touch, sometimes He heals gradually, and sometimes He heals through the natural processes He Himself created in our bodies. Any true healing is divine, because He is the Creator of all that is. We do not understand why some are healed in one way and others in another, and He is not confined to a single pattern, but we can trust His love and His power to do what is best. I am asking Him to touch your body, to bring relief from this inflammation, to protect your eyesight, and to keep you in His care.
I also hear how much fear you are carrying, and I want to gently point you to what quiets fear. Fear so often comes when we forget the Lord and fix our eyes on the problem in front of us, just as Peter began to sink when he looked at the wind and the waves instead of at Jesus. Fear and faith cannot live together in the same place. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and where faith and confidence in God are strong, fear is driven away. The enemy uses fear to try to move us in the wrong direction, but remembering the Lord is the cure for fear.
David said, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. He also asked his own soul, why are you cast down and disquieted within me, and then reminded himself to hope in God. When you feel fear rising, remember who is with you. Greater is He who is with you than any threat that is against you. The Lord is your light and your salvation, whom shall you fear. The Lord is the strength of your life, of whom shall you be afraid. In the time of trouble He can hide you and keep your foot from being taken.
There is another kind of fear that brings wisdom and peace, and that is the reverential awe of God. This is not a phobia, but a deep respect for His greatness, His power, and His holiness, a desire to love what He loves and to hate what He hates. The beginning of true knowledge and wisdom is this reverence for the Lord. When you walk in that reverence, you can rest in His promise that those who fear Him shall lack no good thing. Even the young lions may suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord will be cared for. Do what is wise and prudent for your health, but do not let your actions be driven by panic or dread. If God is your protector, He can keep you wherever you are.
So let us pray together now.
Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one before You. You see the pain of this inflammation and the fear about eyesight and safety. Lay Your healing hand upon this body. We ask for Your mercy to relieve this suffering completely, to calm what is inflamed, to protect vision, and to guard from all harm. Let Your healing work be done, whether quickly or step by step, according to Your perfect will. Replace fear with faith as eyes are kept on You. Be confidence and strength today and through all the days of this week. Let there be a deep peace in knowing You are present, that You have not forsaken, and that You will keep those who trust in You. Give wisdom for every practical step to take for health, and let every step be taken in trust, not in fear. Fill the heart with the quiet assurance that You are with us and You are for us. Amen.
Keep looking to Jesus, keep remembering the Lord, and let Him be your confidence. He is near, He hears, and He cares for you.
