AMEN

Beloved of All
Dear God, please keep me safe, always, even when I die. Dear God, when I die, please let me go over to the better side. Amen.

We join with you in this simple and sincere prayer for safety both now and for eternity, and we bring your request before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus' name.

Your heart is longing for assurance, to be kept safe not only in this life but also when you pass from this life, and to be on the better side, which we understand to be eternal life with God in heaven. This is the deepest need of every soul, and God has lovingly provided the way. We want to gently share that you addressed God but did not mention Jesus Christ, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and the assurance of being on that better side. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12.

The better side you long for is to be at home with the Lord forever, and that promise is given to all who put their trust in Jesus. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16. That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. To believe on Jesus is to trust that He died for our sins and rose again, and to receive Him as Lord of our lives.

We find great comfort in knowing that God does keep His children safe, even through the valley of death. Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. Psalm 121:7-8. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4. For those who are in Christ, to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8. And Jesus gives this assurance, I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we thank You for this tender heart that is seeking Your protection and Your eternal presence. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You reveal Yourself to this one and draw them into saving faith in Your Son. Lord, help them to confess Jesus as Lord and believe that You raised Him from the dead, so they may have full assurance of eternal life. Keep them safe in Your hands each day, guard their soul from evil, and give them peace that passes understanding, knowing that whether in life or in death they belong to You. Comfort them with the knowledge that You are with them always, even through the shadow of death, and that for those who are in Christ there is a better side, an eternal home with You. We ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit and give them confidence and joy in Your promises. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him through His Word and through prayer in Jesus' name, for He hears and He desires to give you that perfect assurance and peace.

We were moved by your simple and honest prayer. Wanting to be safe now and to be safe with God when this life ends is at the heart of what so many of us carry quietly, and God hears that kind of prayer.

It makes sense that thoughts about dying can bring fear, even when you believe God is there. You are not alone in feeling that. We are glad you brought it straight to Him just as you are, because He welcomes that honesty.

If these fears come up often, especially at night or when you are alone, it can help to not carry them by yourself. We encourage you to share how you are feeling with a trusted pastor, a mature Christian friend, or someone in your church family who can sit with you, listen and pray with you in person. Having another voice to pray alongside you can make the fear feel less heavy.

We are praying for you now.

Father, thank You for hearing this honest heart. We ask You to give peace in moments of fear and to draw close with Your presence and protection each day. Lead toward a deeper trust in Jesus and the assurance of being with You forever, and keep this dear one in Your care both now and in the life to come. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your simple and sincere prayer has risen before the Lord, and it touches the very heart of the gospel, for you have asked for that which God delights to give.

You ask to be kept safe always, even when you die, and to go over to the better side. Hear then what the Scripture says concerning this better side, for many suppose that eternal life means only Heaven hereafter, but eternal life commences here. It begins in the believer as soon as he is born again. Then he receives into him that same life which he will have throughout eternity. It is not a thing of changes, but the same life which will expand and develop itself in Heaven.

In what does this eternal life consist. Our Lord Himself has told us, to know the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent. No man really knows God who does not know Him as God, and does not accept Him as his God, and to accept God as your God is eternal life. This life is heavenly life, the life which has made tears of repentance to stream down the cheek, and has caused the soul to believe in Jesus. This is the life which will go to Heaven.

Know this also, that none of us merits eternal life, or ever can merit it. Mere mortal life is a gift of Divine mercy, and as for the eternal life spoken of in the text, it is a gift too high for the fingers of human merit to hope to reach. It is said, I give unto them eternal life. There is an implication that we had lost eternal life by our fall in Adam and by our actual sin, and this long lost life Jesus Christ restores to every soul who believes in Him. It is a holy life, a happy life, which is infinitely more than mere existence.

And this life, being Christ's life, is an everlasting life. How can that be eternal which comes to an end. Eternal life means a life that never ends. The Christian does not truly die, for because Christ lives, we shall live also. The life of believers in Heaven, the life that never sins, the life that is absolute obedience and undiluted bliss, is exactly the same life that is in the believer right now. He that believes on the Son has everlasting life, it is his possession now.

The chief blessing of Heaven, the cream of Heaven, the Heaven of Heaven, is that the saints shall there see Jesus. To be rid of inbred sin and to be without fault before the throne of God, to be with Christ and to be kept by Him, this is the better side for which you pray.

Therefore lay hold on eternal life by confident faith in the Person of Christ. Faith must be urged upon you, for without it there is no salvation, and this faith is believing on Him. Leave the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence. Depend upon Him without fear. Believe on the one appointed Savior and enter into eternal life.

We pray for you, that the Lord who is your keeper will keep you in safety both in life and in death, that you may know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent, and that having received this Divine life here below, you may find it brought to perfection in His glorious presence above, where you shall hunger no more and the Lamb shall lead you to fountains of waters of life. May the Lord grant you to rehearse even now the service and joy of Heaven, by living in fellowship with Christ, till He shall bring you home. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your longing to be kept safe always, even in death, and to be brought to the better side, is the very hope God has placed in the human heart and answered in Christ.

The cross has made death no longer death but a sleep, and has made earth able to become heaven. What was once a way of death leading down to darkness has been replaced by a new and living way. The gates of heaven, which were closed even to the righteous of old, have now been opened through Jesus, who entered within the veil as our forerunner. Because of this we can speak of so great a salvation, not merely rescue from trouble in this life, but the dissolving of death, the casting down of the enemy, and the gift of everlasting life and the kingdom of heaven.

That hope is meant to be an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast. Like an anchor dropped from a ship that keeps it steady though winds beat against it, this hope keeps us firm while we are still in this world. It enters already into heaven where Jesus is. Therefore hold fast your confidence and the rejoicing of your hope firm to the end, in full assurance of faith, not shaken by trials. The God who raises the dead is the one in whom we trust, both in life and in peril that seems to bring us to despair, so that we learn not to trust in ourselves but in Him.

I pray that God will keep you in His care each day, guard you by His power, and deepen in you faith in His Son, through whom alone salvation comes. May He give you peace in the face of death, knowing it is only sleep for those who are in Christ, and bring you at the last into His presence where that hope is fulfilled. May He make your hope steadfast and your heart steady until that day. Amen.

Your prayer expresses the deepest longing of the human heart, to be safe not only in this life but beyond it, and to be on the right side of eternity when death comes. God hears that cry and He has answered it clearly in His Word.

Safety beyond death is not found in hoping for the best or in trying to be good enough. Scripture teaches that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. The one who has the Son has life, and the one who does not have the Son does not have life. That is the straight and clear witness God has given. Eternal life is not a vague hope, it is a person. Jesus Himself is the bread that came down from heaven to give life to the world, and He invites all who are thirsty to come and drink of the water of life freely. No one can come unless the Father draws him, yet the door is open to everyone who will come.

Jesus said that unless a person is born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is wherever God rules, and to enter it means to come under His rule in your life now. This new birth is not a ritual performed for you without your knowledge or a work you do to earn favor. It is a spiritual birth worked by the Holy Spirit when you put your trust in Jesus Christ. It moves you from a life centered on yourself to a life centered on God, from death to life, from living to please yourself to living in fellowship with God. It is a new quality of life, a life of righteousness and peace and joy, and the wonder is that this quality of life also lasts forever. God is not only concerned with how long you live, but with what kind of life you have, and in Jesus the two come together.

This hope is sure because it rests on a promise God made before the world began. God cannot lie and His Word cannot fail. Just as He has built into creation itself the picture of resurrection and new life, He has promised that those who trust in Jesus will receive a new body, a building from God not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. The present sufferings and fears of this life cannot be compared with the eternal weight of glory that belongs to His children. When we see things in light of eternity, our perspective is corrected.

You can have assurance about this. God had these things written so that those who believe on the name of the Son of God may know that they have eternal life. Assurance does not come from a feeling alone, but from the witness of God in His Word and the witness of His Spirit within that you are His child through faith.

If your desire is to be safe always and to be on the better side when you die, turn to Jesus with simple faith. Confess that you need Him as Savior and submit to Him as Lord. Believe that He loved you and gave Himself for you, that He died and rose again to reconcile you to God. To confess Him now and trust Him now is salvation. It is entering into life.

May God give you that confidence today. May His Word, which is spirit and life and truth, enter your heart and bring light. May you know that you have passed from death to life because you have the Son, and may you walk in that life, led by His Spirit, with a steady hope that looks beyond this temporary world to the eternal home He has prepared.

I am praying that God will draw you close, keep you in His care each day, and anchor your heart in the sure promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ alone.
