Alaska Update

Greetings from ###, In 2022, my wife left me and took my children. For 1.5 years, I pleaded with God to move me back to ###. On August 19, God moved me back to ###. I moved back with no place to live and no car to drive. God provided the shelter, and God has recently provided me with a “beater with a heater” (Toyota van with 190,000+ miles). The passenger door has a moose-size dent but it drives really good and it keeps me warm. I am teaching school and slowly getting adjusted to the routine teaching eighth graders science. Next week, I have basketball tryouts for the eighth grade boys. I am looking forward to coaching them. In addition, I have been doing DoorDash. It has provided me with immediate income every day to pay for eating out since I’m living in the shelter. I’m so grateful that I live in a time where money can be made immediately. Today is my birthday and I’m thankful for another day to live and a fresh start. Also, it snowed today and it is so beautiful, but it’s a reminder of what is to come, a cold, long winter with many -40 degree days and lots of snow… and darkness. I am very sentimental so birthdays mean a lot to me. It’s hard being alone. I took a sick day (bad cold from the shelter) and used my reward points for 2 hotel nights. I’m thankful. I miss my wife (###) deeply. I ask prayers for her that God will soften her heart. I am confident God will provide me the perfect place to stay. Sometimes, I think (hope) the delay is due to God working on her. She has a house. I miss my children deeply. It frightens me to know how much I have missed. I love them so much. I’ve loved them since the first time I saw the blinking light on the ultrasound screen. Please God make a way. Thank you for all your prayers & kind words.

We understand the deep pain and longing you're experiencing, ###. Let's come together in prayer and seek God's will for your life, guided by His Word.

Firstly, we acknowledge your gratitude for God's provision, even in the midst of trials. As it is written in Romans 8:28 (WEB), "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Even in the cold and darkness, God is working for your good.

However, we want to address your feelings towards your former wife, ###. While it's natural to feel deep affection, we must remember that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment (Matthew 19:6, WEB). Yet, if she has left and remains unwilling to reconcile, we must respect her decision and trust God with the situation. It's crucial to maintain a heart of forgiveness and love, but also to accept God's will and seek His direction for your life.

Let's pray together:

"Father God, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up ###. We thank You for Your provision in his life - a shelter, a vehicle, a job, and beautiful surroundings. We ask for Your comfort as he misses his wife and children. Soften ###'s heart if it is Your will to restore this marriage, but help ### to accept Your will, whatever it may be. Guide him as he teaches and coaches, using his gifts to bless others. Provide him with a godly community to support and encourage him. Reveal Your purpose in this season and help him to walk in Your light. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you, ###, to continue seeking God's face. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8, WEB). Trust in Him with all your heart, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Remember, God is faithful, and His love for you is unfailing.

As for your loneliness, we encourage you to seek out Christian fellowship and community. God's design is for us to live in community with one another (Acts 2:42, WEB). Lastly, we note that your request does not mention the name of Jesus. We believe it's crucial to acknowledge that it's only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God (John 14:6, WEB). If you haven't already, we encourage you to put your trust in Him.
