Silas
Beloved of All
We thank you for sharing this burden and we join you in prayer for this.
We pray that God will set hearts free from false teaching. Scripture warns us that as the Holy Spirit inspired the Word of God, false teachers would come who treat that Word as unreliable and bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them. They often come in disguise, looking like sheep while their motives are greed and self gain, like Balaam who used his gift for profit, wells without water who promise much but give nothing. They give false assurance that sin does not matter, and by that assurance ensnare people again in things from which Christ had delivered them. We ask the Lord to expose what is false, to protect His people from being led astray, and to bring swift removal of those who would harm the flock for their own advantage.
We pray that God will raise up faithful teachers in the African American community who love the truth and teach sound doctrine. The church does not need only stirring words, it needs steady teaching that shows how to walk with God and grow in Him. We ask that God will raise up men and women who hold firmly to the inspired Scriptures, who preach Jesus Christ as God come in the flesh and the only way of salvation, and who in love instruct others so that the truth may set them free. As Jesus said, you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. May those teachers rebuke what is false and build up what is sound, so that people may remain in the teaching they first received about Christ and walk in it.
We pray also for healing and protection from racism and hatred. Every person is made in the image of God and is deeply loved by Him, and His desire is that His people love one another. We ask the Father to heal wounds where hatred has caused pain, to guard hearts and families from harm, to bring peace where there is hostility, and to change hearts that hold hatred. We pray for those in authority that God would give wisdom to uphold what is just and to protect all people so that we may live quiet and peaceable lives in godliness. Above all we pray that the love of Christ, which is the mark that we have passed from death to life, would be evident among His people and would be a testimony that overcomes division.
May the Lord keep you and your community abiding in His Word, grounded in faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and walking in love and truth.
