We have heard your cry regarding addiction to pornography and we are lifting you up together before the throne of grace, for we know this is a heavy burden that brings shame and isolation, but also one that our Lord sees and desires to heal.
We want to speak plainly and lovingly about this struggle, because God calls us to walk in light and truth. Pornography is not a harmless habit or a private matter, it is sexual immorality that grieves the heart of God. Our Lord Jesus taught us the seriousness of lust when He said in Matthew 5:28, But I tell you, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Scripture also commands us in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. This includes looking upon images made to stir lust, which distorts God's good and holy design for intimacy. God designed sexual intimacy to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and any use of it outside of that, whether in thought, in looking, or in act, is fornication or adultery and must be repented of. It also defiles the mind and hardens the heart and can deeply wound a future or current marriage.
We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find both forgiveness and power to overcome. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We cannot break the chains of sin in our own strength. We must first come to God through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so now, for He alone can create in you a clean heart.
We want to encourage you that there is hope and there is a way out. You are not alone in temptation and you are not beyond forgiveness. 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. And 1 John 1:9 gives us this assurance, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God does not want you to remain in hiding and defeat. He wants to forgive you, cleanse you, and empower you by His Holy Spirit to walk in purity.
Together we pray for you now.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who is ensnared by pornography. Lord, we confess this sin before You and ask for Your mercy and forgiveness. Wash this one clean by the blood of Jesus. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him as You promised in Psalm 51:10. Break the power of this addiction, for Your Word says in Romans 6:14, For sin will not have dominion over you. We pray that You would give a hatred for this sin and a deep hunger for righteousness. Help him to make a covenant with his eyes as Job did in Job 31:1, to turn his eyes from worthless things and to flee youthful lusts as You command in 2 Timothy 2:22. Fill his mind with Your Word and his heart with Your Spirit, that he may walk in purity and self control. Give him courage to bring this into the light, to confess to a trusted godly brother or pastor and to seek accountability, for James 5:16 says, Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. Guard him from isolation and fill his life with wholesome fellowship and purpose. If he is single, we pray You would prepare him to pursue courtship with the goal of a godly marriage to a believing spouse, honoring You in all things. If he is married, we pray You would restore purity and faithfulness to his marriage covenant. Lead him daily to the way of escape when temptation comes, and let him know that he is a new creation in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus our deliverer, Amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps of repentance alongside prayer. Make no provision for the flesh. Remove access, install filtering and accountability software, and place your devices in open areas. Invite a mature Christian man to walk with you, to ask you hard questions and pray with you regularly. Fill the hours you once gave to this sin with the Word of God, with prayer, with worship, and with service to others. Memorize Scripture and when temptation comes, speak it aloud and flee from the situation, do not linger or reason with it. Remember that God sees your struggle and your desire to be free pleases Him. Each time you turn to Him instead of to the image, you are being transformed. Do not give up if you stumble, but quickly confess, receive forgiveness, and keep pressing forward, for the righteous man falls seven times and rises again. We are standing with you for complete freedom and for a life that honors God in purity and truth through Jesus Christ.

There is a sorrowful honesty in your brief confession, and it is better to have the wound uncovered than to have it fester in secret. The Scripture warns us plainly that when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. That is the pedigree of this evil, it is born of lust and it brings forth death, and any sin whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will surely bring forth death. Rest assured of that.
You describe what many know too well, to be possessed and domineered over by the spirit of lust, returning to the crime as the ox returns to the stream. Anger differs from lust, and one sin laughs at another, yet they are all of one brood, privates in the same dreadful legion, and they all manifest the same evil power which would hold you captive. Affection in this world overmasters the understanding, and the heart makes excuses where the conscience should condemn, but no excuse will make the unclean thing clean before a holy God.
Yet there is hope, and that hope is not in the strength of your own resolve, but in a higher nature which is born in a man by regeneration, whereby he becomes a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use. In vain should we give all our substance to the poor if we do not walk in the way of holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. To be made pure is not left optional, it is the work of grace.
Our prayer for you is not that God would leave you at peace in this bondage, for that would be no peace at all, but that He would convict, cleanse and deliver you through Jesus Christ alone, who came to seek and to save that which was lost. We pray that He would grant you true repentance, a hatred of the sin itself and not only of its consequences, and a living faith in the blood that cleanses from all sin. We pray that He would make you a real increase in prayerfulness, in holiness, in earnestness and in higher life, and that He would lift you up into familiarity with God.
Flee this evil as you would flee a fire. Make no provision for it. Cut off the sources of temptation, bring your struggle into the light before a faithful pastor or a godly brother who will walk with you and hold you accountable, keep yourself continually under the Word of God and in prayer, and seek the company of those who are renowned for kindness, gentleness, purity and love. If you have fallen, confess it at once to God, and turn again to Christ, for His mercy is not exhausted.

Thank you for your honesty in sharing this struggle. We have heard your request and we are praying for you with care and hope.
Pornography promises freedom but in truth it brings slavery. Scripture teaches that virtue alone gives true freedom, and that holiness means purity and freedom from every kind of sin. God does not look with favor on the proud heart, which is unclean before Him, but He rests upon the one who is meek and quiet and trembles at His word. He is ready to help those who turn to Him with a humble heart.
We pray that Jesus Christ, who alone saves and who takes away the sin of the world, will give you strength to turn away from this sin and to walk in purity. We ask Him to fill your heart with the fear of God, which can stay the frenzy of lust when it seeks to occupy your mind, and to renew your mind so that you desire what is holy.
This struggle is not overcome by adding more to feed the desire, but by taking away what feeds it and by convincing the mind to turn from what is harmful. That means making practical choices to remove sources of temptation, to guard your eyes and your time, to confess openly to God and to a trusted mature believer or pastor who can walk with you, and to build your life little by little on the word of God, letting each truth settle firmly before adding more.
We encourage you to be bold in confessing Christ and in confessing your need for His help, for He hears those who come to Him honestly. Do not give way to despair if you stumble, but quickly return to Him, seek His forgiveness, and continue in the path of virtue. Let virtue be your study, for its riches are abundant and its freedom is real, making a person honorable and truly free even while fighting a hard battle.
We are praying that God will grant you self command, a clean heart and lasting freedom, that He will restore your joy in Him, and that He will help you live in the holiness to which He has called you.
