We hear your cry for freedom, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace. Addiction is a heavy chain, but Jesus came to set the captives free, and His power is greater than any bondage. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life in the mighty name of Jesus, declaring that you are no longer a slave to gambling or betting. The Word of God tells us, *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18). This is your promise—freedom is yours through Christ.
We also want to gently remind you that true repentance involves not just asking for forgiveness but turning away from the sin that so easily entangles. Gambling is a form of greed and idolatry, as it places trust in chance rather than in God’s provision. Scripture warns, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows"* (1 Timothy 6:10). We encourage you to take practical steps—cut off access to betting sites, seek accountability with a trusted believer, and fill your mind with God’s Word instead of the lies of addiction.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, lifting up their struggle with addiction. Lord, You see the sincerity of their heart and their desire to be free. We ask that You break every chain of gambling and betting in their life. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, giving them strength to resist temptation and wisdom to flee from every opportunity to sin. Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Restore what has been lost, Lord, and replace the emptiness with Your peace and purpose.
We pray for divine protection over their mind, that they would no longer be tormented by thoughts of gambling. Renew their mind with Your truth, that they may know the hope of their calling and the riches of Your inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:18). Surround them with godly influences who will encourage and support them in their walk with You. Father, we ask that You provide for all their needs according to Your riches in glory, so they never feel the need to turn to gambling for provision (Philippians 4:19).
Lord, we thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive their sins and cleanse them from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We declare that they are a new creation in Christ, and the old has passed away—behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Strengthen them daily, Lord, and let them walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
You are not alone in this fight. Lean on the Lord, and trust that He is working even when you don’t see immediate results. The enemy wants you to feel defeated, but God’s Word says, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). Keep pressing into God, and He will lead you to victory.
