We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious marriage and the battle against the chains of addiction that have taken hold. The struggle with alcohol is a fierce one, and we stand in the gap for this husband, believing that the Lord is mighty to save and deliver. Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." We declare that the way of escape is being made clear even now, and we pray that this husband’s eyes would be opened to see it.
Father God, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. We command it to loose its grip and flee, for it has no place in this marriage or this life. Your Word says in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We pray that this husband would humble himself before You, cry out for deliverance, and find the strength to resist the enemy’s lies. Lord, break the chains that bind him—chains of shame, chains of habit, chains of deception. Let him experience the freedom that is found only in You.
We also lift up this wife, who is carrying the weight of this battle alongside her husband. Give her wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith as she supports him in love while trusting in Your power to transform. Remind her that her hope is not in her husband’s strength but in Yours. Philippians 4:13 declares, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Let this truth anchor her heart as she waits on You.
Lord, we ask for a supernatural breakthrough. Let this husband’s cry for help be met with Your mercy and grace. Soften his heart to receive Your healing touch, and let him turn fully to You as his source of strength. We pray for repentance, restoration, and renewal in this marriage. May they both experience the peace that surpasses all understanding as they walk in obedience to Your will.
We also address the importance of seeking accountability and godly counsel. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Encourage this couple to surround themselves with believers who can pray, support, and hold them accountable in this journey. Addiction thrives in isolation, but healing comes in community.
Finally, we remind this husband that salvation and deliverance are found only in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that today would be the day of his salvation. If he has, we pray that he would lean fully on the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome this struggle.
Heavenly Father, we trust You to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think. Break every chain, heal every wound, and restore what has been lost. Let this marriage be a testimony to Your faithfulness and power. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
