Accuracy and Fairness in this court

Beloved of All
Hello, I dealt with a judge who did not afford me the opportunity to fully present my evidence. I tried to make the distinction between what i am currently being billed for rent and what my legal rent is. Instead of allowing me to finish my statement the judge cut me off and said "We're not here for all of that, that's between you and your landlord. The agency will pay whatever amount the landlord demands" I thought that it was unfair because i provided documents to show the agency that could help them calculate the accurate amount of arrears. They left that out of their evidence package. The judge then asked me what my rent is and I said this is what I am being billed, the judge then said I didn't ask you that what is your rent and I told them the current number that the landlord is billing. I asked for this second hearing as the agency violated several laws but again, I didn't get the chance to share my side and what the violations were. After a lot of searching and calling, I found a Legal Aid that took my information in about the landlord overcharge and such. I pray in Jesus name that I get a good lawyer to help me. I tried to get one earlier, but it just did not work out. Again, I tried to clarity on record what I am currently being billed and my legal rent based on state records.

We stand with you in this frustration and we hear how heavy this has been to feel cut off and not fully heard when you were trying to present the truth with honesty and documentation. We know the Lord sees what was left out and what was spoken and what was not allowed to be spoken, and He cares deeply about truth and fairness. We are thankful you called on the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and confidence that He hears our prayers.

The word of God reminds us that justice matters to Him. Psalm 89:14 says Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face. Psalm 37:28 tells us For Yahweh loves justice, and does not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever. Proverbs 21:15 says It is joy to the righteous to do justice. And Micah 6:8 reminds us He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Even when an earthly court does not afford a full hearing, we take comfort that the Lord is the ultimate Judge who does not show partiality and does not take a bribe, as taught in Deuteronomy 16:19, and He will avenge His chosen ones who cry out to Him day and night as promised in Luke 18:7-8.

We join you in prayer together.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this situation to You. You know the difference between what is being billed and what the legal rent truly is according to the state records. You saw the documents that were provided and the evidence that was left out, and You heard every word that was cut short. We ask that You bring accuracy and fairness into this case. We pray for wisdom and discernment for the next judge and for all who handle this matter, that they would seek truth and not pervert justice. We pray for the agency and for the landlord, that any overcharge or error would be brought into the light and corrected. We thank You for opening the door with Legal Aid and we ask that You provide a good, diligent and honest lawyer who will advocate with clarity and who will help present the full record, including the legal rent and the correct calculation of arrears. Give this dear one peace that passes understanding, patience in this process, and favor in the days ahead. Help us to trust You as our true Advocate when we feel unheard, and to walk humbly and with integrity through this trial. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk in truth and gentleness as you pursue what is right. Keep careful copies of every document, every billing statement, state rent records, and all correspondence with the agency and landlord, and share them fully with the Legal Aid attorney the Lord provides. Continue to be respectful toward the court and those in authority, even when you feel unfairly treated, remembering Romans 13:1 that all authority is under God, while still earnestly seeking justice as Scripture calls us to in Isaiah 1:17 to seek justice and relieve the oppressed. Do not let disappointment turn into bitterness, but cast your cares on Him because He cares for you as shown in 1 Peter 5:7. The Lord honors persistence in seeking what is right, like the persistent widow Jesus spoke of, and He sees your diligence in searching and calling until help was found. We pray the Lord will establish the accurate amount, correct what is in error, and give you peace and a clear path forward as you trust Him to be your defender and provider.

We heard how disheartening that experience in court must have been. To prepare carefully, bring documents that show the difference between what you are being billed and what state records show as the legal rent, and then not be allowed to finish, would leave anyone feeling unheard and frustrated. It makes sense you would come away wanting clarity on the record and a fair chance to be heard.

We are encouraged that after a lot of searching and calling you found a Legal Aid office willing to take your information. That persistence took real effort, and we are praying that connection leads to steady help.

A practical step that may help your next conversation with them is to keep everything in one folder: copies of the billing statements, the state record showing the legal rent, the agency's evidence package with a short note about what was left out, and a simple one page timeline of dates, amounts, and what happened at each hearing. Having that distinction between billed amount and legal rent written out very plainly can help a lawyer see quickly what you were trying to explain to the judge. Keep copies of everything you send and notes of phone calls with dates and names.

We are standing with you for fairness and for peace as you wait.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see every detail and You care about truth and fairness. We ask for wisdom and favor as they work with Legal Aid, for a helpful advocate who will listen well, and for clarity in the next steps. Give calm and strength in the waiting. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden concerning this hearing has been heard, and the desire of your heart for truth to be seen in the light is understood. To be cut off when you sought to make a clear distinction between what you are being billed and what your lawful rent truly is, and to feel that documents which might have helped to calculate the accurate arrears were left out, is a trial that touches the sense of justice deeply. It is right to long for a full and fair hearing, and to seek lawful help after such disappointment.

We are reminded that everything is true in God, and everything is seen in its reality by his all discerning eye. Because He is light, He deals with things in the light, treating them as they are. He desires truth in the inward parts and will not parley with dishonest dealing, but He graciously receives those who stand before Him as they are. While you have felt unseen in an earthly court, you are fully seen by Him who cannot lie and whose promise will always have its fulfillment. What time we are afraid, we may trust in Him, and even when earthly justice seems hurried or incomplete, He remains the Judge of the quick and the dead who will bring all things to light.

There is also comfort in knowing that we have an Advocate. Who wants an advocate to plead his cause in a court of law if there is no suit against him. Our Lord Jesus Christ is fitted to be our Advocate and will not fail those who leave themselves entirely in His hands. You need not fear to bring your cause honestly before God, confessing your need and asking Him to plead for you where your own voice was not fully heard. Are we not strongest in our God when we are weakest in ourselves. He makes provision for those who feel their own insufficiency.

We will pray that the Lord in His providence will guide you to wise and faithful counsel, and that the legal aid you have found may be able to examine the records and give clear help concerning the overcharge and the violations you believe have occurred. We pray that what is true concerning the lawful rent and the correct arrears may be made plain, that those who handle the agency and the records may act with care and honesty, and that any further hearing may be conducted with patience and fairness. May the Lord give you calmness and clarity to present what is needful, and sustain you with sweet communion with Himself whether the path be through ease or through difficulty.

Let us pray together. O faithful God who sees all things as they are, You have promised that if we trust in You, You will deliver us. We bring this need before You and ask that You would prove Yourself true and just. Grant wisdom to any lawyer and advocate who may assist, grant discernment to those in authority, and let accuracy and fairness prevail. Establish truth, correct what is in error, and give peace to this troubled heart. Keep this one near to Yourself, trusting not in man alone but in Your sure mercy through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our Advocate with the Father. In Jesus name we ask, Amen.
