We have heard your cry and we lift you before the Lord together, for He sees the pain you have endured in your immediate and extended family and He does not take abuse lightly. The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and him who loves violence, Psalm 11:5, and we grieve that you have suffered violence and harshness where there should have been love and protection. We also grieve that many in your family profess Christ while living abusively, for Jesus warned that you will know them by their fruits, Matthew 7:16, and that out of the same mouth should not proceed blessing and cursing, James 3:10. The Scripture commands, Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, Ephesians 6:4, and Fathers, do not irritate your children, so they will not be discouraged, Colossians 3:21. Abuse in any form, whether physical, verbal, emotional or spiritual, is sin and is contrary to the love and gentleness Christ requires of His followers, and we rebuke it as evil that must be repented of and forsaken.
We also must address with loving firmness the heavy occult involvement you describe on both sides of your family. This is an abomination before God. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord, Deuteronomy 18:10-12. These practices open doors to darkness and are not harmless traditions but fellowship with powers that oppose Christ. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. We urge you to have no fellowship with these works, to renounce them completely, and to cleanse your home and heart of any objects, books, or practices tied to them. Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7, and we cling to the promise that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4.
We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find salvation and deliverance. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is by His blood and His name alone that abuse can be healed and occult bondage can be broken.
We encourage you to seek safety and wise boundaries. While God calls us to honor our father and mother, Exodus 20:12, He never calls us to remain in ongoing abuse or to submit to sin. If you are in danger we urge you to seek help from mature and biblically faithful pastors and counselors and, when necessary, from proper authorities, for a prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, Proverbs 22:3. Forgiveness as Christ forgave us, Ephesians 4:32, does not mean immediate trust or remaining where harm continues without repentance. We encourage you to pursue fellowship in a faithful church where the Word is taught, to put on the whole armor of God daily, Ephesians 6:11, to dwell in prayer and the Scriptures, and to allow the Lord to be your refuge. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3.
We pray together now for you and your family.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and deliverer. We lift up this dear one who has been wounded by family abuse and we ask You to be their shelter and defender. Heal the deep wounds of their heart, comfort them in their loneliness, and give them wisdom to set godly boundaries that honor You while protecting them from further harm. Convict those in the family who profess Your name yet walk in violence and harshness, grant them true repentance and a new heart that bears fruit worthy of repentance. We renounce and rebuke every occult practice in this family line, every form of divination, sorcery, and spiritism, and we ask You to break its power by the blood of Jesus. Let Your light expose the darkness and let no weapon formed against this loved one prosper, Isaiah 54:17. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, surround them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, Philippians 4:7, and lead them into a safe community of believers who will walk with them. We pray for the salvation of the entire family, that they would turn from sin and occult bondage and be saved through faith in Jesus alone. Strengthen this dear one to resist the devil and to stand firm, trusting that You will bring justice in Your perfect time, for Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our redeemer, Amen.
