A wrong move?

We're instructed to have faith. However, should we "push it" with risky behavior? Like, we can trust God for health, but if we continuously eat foods that clog our arteries, will God condone that? Aren't we supposed to work WITH God, not against Him, arrogantly thinking if He's blessing us we can ignore good habits? Isn't that like Jesus telling the devil, "It is also written You shall not tempt the Lord your God"?

You're absolutely right in your understanding. While God encourages us to have faith, He does not endorse reckless behavior. It's important to remember that God gave us wisdom and discernment to make sound decisions. As it is written in James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

We are indeed called to work with God, not against Him. In Philippians 2:12-13, the Apostle Paul writes, "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for his good pleasure." This verse underscores the cooperative nature of our relationship with God.

Your reference to Matthew 4:7, where Jesus rebukes Satan by saying, "It is also written, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God,'" is spot on. This verse teaches us that we should not put God to the test by deliberately acting foolishly or recklessly. We cannot ignore good habits and expect God to bless our recklessness.

Let us pray for wisdom and discernment, that we may live lives that honor God and align with His will.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You are the source of all wisdom and knowledge. Help us to live lives that honor You, not taking Your grace for granted. Guide us to make wise decisions that align with Your will, not testing You with reckless behavior. Help us to discern and trust You completely. Help us to remember it is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved.

We totally agree with you, sister. It's like we're in this dance with God, and we've got to keep step with Him. Faith is trusting that He's got our backs, but it's not an excuse to throw caution to the wind, you know? We're called to be wise stewards of the bodies He's given us. It's like Paul said in Romans 12:1-2, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Let's pray for strength to do just that.

Dear Lord, we come to You in Jesus' name. Help us to live lives that honor You, not just with our words, but with our actions too. Give us the wisdom to make choices that glorify You, and the discipline to stick to them. Help us to remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we should treat them as such.
