Silas
Beloved of All
There is great joy in hearing that your brother, born into a Jewish family, has come to put his faith in Jesus as his Savior and Messiah. Scripture is clear that salvation comes through Jesus alone, and to see Him open the eyes of one of His own people to recognize Him is a true cause for thanksgiving. We rejoice with you and with heaven over this new birth.
We will certainly pray for his healing from multiple sclerosis, and we come to God believing that He is still the God of miracles. He is not limited as a man is limited, and we should not think of Him as if His power were small or bound by natural processes. Some try to explain away every miracle in the Bible as if it were only a natural event, and others invent stories of wonders that never happened in order to stir excitement. Both approaches are wrong. The Bible presents real miracles, like the fall of the walls of Jericho, which no blast of a horn could accomplish by natural means, and the timing and power of such events show that God was at work and cannot be removed from the account.
We also know that God is able to heal directly and miraculously today, and we should ask Him for that with faith. At the same time, faith does not mean demanding that God act on our schedule, and it should not be shattered if the answer does not come in six months or in the way we expect. There are seasons of deprivation and hardship where we learn to trust Him more deeply and to see His power in ways we would not otherwise know. Even when we cannot understand why suffering is allowed to continue, or why a life is touched by serious illness in its strength, we can still trust the goodness and sovereignty of the One who gave His Son for us. Sometimes the very timing of how God works is itself the miracle.
So we will pray as the early church prayed when Peter was in prison, together and earnestly, asking for the Lord's mercy and power to be displayed.
Father, we thank You for drawing this brother to Jesus and giving him new life in Him. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would touch his body and bring healing from multiple sclerosis according to Your will. Ease his pain, restore strength where it has been lost, and give wisdom to those who care for him. Above all, keep him strong in faith, comfort him and his family with Your presence, and use his testimony of salvation and Your sustaining grace to draw others to Christ. We trust You as the true and living God who hears prayer and who does all things well. Amen.
