A closer walk with God

We join with you in this beautiful and most important desire for a closer walk with God and we rejoice that He has placed this hunger in your heart, for it is He who first draws us to Himself.

We want you to know that while others may say they cannot help with that request, our God never turns away a seeking heart. He invites us to draw near to Him with the promise that He will draw near to us. James 4:8 says Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Jeremiah 29:13 says You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Psalm 73:28 says But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we gently want to share why that matters so deeply. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we can be saved and walk closely with God. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, we encourage you to call upon His name today, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through that restored relationship that a daily close walk becomes possible.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for this dear one who longs to be closer to You. We ask that You forgive our sins and cleanse us as we confess them, and that You help us to walk in obedience and holiness before You. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this seeking heart, open the Scriptures and make them come alive, give a deep love for Your Word and for prayer, and teach us to abide in Christ day by day. Help us to turn from anything that hinders our fellowship with You and to hunger and thirst for righteousness, knowing Matthew 5:6 promises Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Draw this dear one into intimate communion with You, into quietness and trust, and let Your presence be known in daily life. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

We encourage you to pursue this closer walk with simple faithful steps each day, setting aside quiet time to read the Word, to pray honestly from the heart, to worship, and to obey what He shows you. Psalm 119:2 says Blessed are those who keep his statutes, who seek him with their whole heart. As you seek Him wholeheartedly and walk in obedience, He will be faithful to meet you and to keep you close.

We are glad you named this desire so plainly. Wanting a closer walk with God is a good and honest prayer in itself, and we are grateful you shared it with us.

One thing that has helped many of us is to remember that closeness with God grows gradually, more like training over time than a single moment of trying harder. There will be highs and lows, but what matters is steady faithfulness over the long haul.

We have found a few simple rhythms help keep that training going. Spending unhurried time in the Bible, bringing honest prayers even when words are few, and worshiping regularly with other believers all draw our attention back to God and give the Holy Spirit room to work in us. It is not about doing everything perfectly, but about staying close and letting God shape us day by day. Each person's walk looks a little different, so it helps to notice what truly helps you stay attentive to Him.

If it would help, you might choose one small, sustainable step for the next week or two, like setting aside ten minutes at the same time each day to read and pray, or joining a weekly gathering for worship and fellowship, and see how God meets you there.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You that You draw near when we seek You. Give clarity, hunger for Your presence, and grace for each small step. Keep shaping this life to look more like Jesus, and let Your nearness be known day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

A closer walk with God is a desire which God Himself must have put into your heart, for worldly men live at a distance from Him and have no communion with Him, but the true believer recognizes God everywhere and longs to be nearer to Him still.

I pray that the Lord will grant you this blessed nearness. God with us is exquisite delight and grace. The holy God who might well strike us with terror has drawn near to us in Christ, and has reconciled us to Himself by the death of His Son, so that now He is not God against us but God with us in blessed communication. Like Enoch you may walk with God, and like Abraham you may talk with Him as a man talks with his friend, for your prayers and praises are speech which you are permitted to have with the Most High.

Seek then to walk humbly with your God, not only on the Sabbath but on Monday and Tuesday and every day, in common things as well as in sacred duties. Declare your ways unto Him, as the Psalmist did when he said, I have declared my ways and Thou heardest me, teach me Thy statutes. Pour out your heart before Him in honest dealing, holding back nothing, and ask Him to teach you His way more perfectly. Remember that power with God takes the shape of prayer, and it is exercised by simple faith, for no one who doubts can prevail with Him. Persevere in this, for Enoch walked with God four hundred years, not taking a turn or two and then leaving Him, but continuing in fellowship.

If we are to walk with God at all it must be in the light, for God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Walk therefore in honesty and holiness, confessing your sin freely, and you shall find the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing you therefrom and keeping your communion unbroken. Private prayer will be nothing unless God is there, but when you come through Christ alone, who is our only access and our peace, you shall find that He hears you and draws you closer still. May the Lord teach you this sacred art, and keep your frame calm and serene as you walk close with Him, till your walk below shall end in seeing His face in glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire for a closer walk with God is itself evidence of His grace at work in you, for no one seeks Him unless He first draws the heart. It is good that you have brought this longing into the light and asked for prayer.

Scripture teaches that we find grace with God not through our own strength but through lowliness of mind, and that we are called to walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. A closer walk is not found in a single moment, but in a steady turning toward Christ each day. He has spoken to us by His Son, and He continues to meet those who seek Him with a humble and repentant heart.

I will pray for you, that the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is the way to the Father, will draw you nearer to Himself, forgive your sins, and strengthen you to live in a way that pleases Him. May He give you hunger for His Word, faithfulness in prayer, and love for His church, where through prayer and encouragement the stains that cling to us are washed away and we are kept in peace.

Seek Him daily in Scripture, speak to Him honestly in prayer, turn quickly from sin when you are convicted, and walk in fellowship with other believers who will encourage you toward holiness. Do everything not merely for yourself but for the good of others, imitating Christ who pleased not Himself but gave Himself for us. As you walk after the Spirit, you will know more of His presence and power.

May God grant you to grow in knowledge of Him, to be kept from being relaxed or careless in your faith, and to enjoy the victory Christ has won for you, through the grace and loving kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Your longing for a closer walk with God is itself evidence of His work in your heart, because you were created for fellowship with Him and He desires that fellowship with you.

That walk is not a way to earn His favor. It is a response to the grace you have already received through Jesus Christ. God does not want a merely legal arrangement with you where you try to keep rules to stay in good standing. He wants a loving relationship as a Father with His child. When you are born again, your spirit which was dead is made alive, and the Holy Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are His child. You can then know Him intimately as Father, and you meet with Him in the realm of the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit is how that communion and oneness is maintained.

Scripture describes what that walk looks like. It is to walk in a way that matches who you now are in Christ. That means walking with lowliness and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, and keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. It means walking in love as Christ has loved you, and walking in light as He is in the light. You cannot walk in darkness and at the same time have fellowship with God who is light. If someone claims to have fellowship with God while choosing a dark path, he is deceiving himself. But if you walk in the light, you do have true fellowship, and the blood of Jesus Christ continually cleanses from sin.

So a closer walk involves putting off the old life with its desires and putting on the new life created after Christ. It means turning from the impurity and greed that marks a life alienated from God, and choosing what pleases Him. You have already been given every spiritual resource you need in Christ, seated with Him and blessed in Him, so that you are able to walk this way not in your own strength but in His power.

In practical terms, this walk has several dimensions that Scripture pictures with different words. To walk before God is to live aware of His presence moment by moment, drawing your life and nourishment from Him as the Almighty One. To walk with God as Enoch and Noah did is to live in steady fellowship and communion. To walk after God is to follow Him in obedience and service. To walk in Christ is to remain in Him and let His life flow through you. All of these are sustained by the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit, and by prayer and abiding in Him. As you receive Christ, so continue to walk in Him, letting His Word dwell in you and guiding your steps by what He has said.

Pray with me toward that end. Father, thank You for Your Word and for making a way through Jesus for us to be Your children. Help this dear one to put off the old life and to put on the new life in Christ, to walk in love and in light and in humility, and to know the closeness of Your Spirit bearing witness with theirs. Teach them to walk before You, with You, after You, and in You, and to experience the joy and fullness that comes from fellowship with You and with Your Son. In Jesus name, amen.
