Your plea for dry weather these coming days is not lost on God, and it is not wrong to bring Him such a request. He governs the rain. The Scripture shows us that He sends the former and the latter rains, the gentle showers and the heavy downpours, and He can also hold them back according to His wisdom. He is not distant from such small, urgent needs as your own.
I think of how the prophet Elijah prayed for rain. He had a word from the Lord promising it would come, and he persisted in prayer until the sky grew dark with clouds. Your situation is a little different; you are not claiming a direct prophetic promise, but you do have the assurance that your Father cares for you. The same God who fed Elijah by the brook and later sent rain on the land knows exactly what you need before you ask. Sometimes He arranges the weather to slow us down so that we examine ourselves, and other times He simply provides right on time.
Remember that in Christ there is no condemnation for you, so you can approach His throne without fear. The heavy rains you dread are still under His voice. He might choose to make those days clear and calm, or He might allow rain that changes your plans. If it does rain, it is not a sign that He has abandoned you. Even when the fields look wasted and the stalls are empty, His hidden supply is never exhausted. And if it does not rain, give Him thanks. Either way, your real safety is not in the weather report but in the One who covers the heavens with clouds and spreads His light upon the earth.
So pour out your heart, but also pray the way Peter did: “At Your word I will let down the net.” Ask boldly, yet rest in the truth that His thoughts toward you are for good and not for evil. You do not see the whole picture yet. Come what may, He will meet you in those days with exactly what you need most.
