Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray that my family will be able to afford a trip to see my boyfriend a few hours away in a few weeks. We may go help care for him for a few days after he gets a ### done. Pray that he and I would be God honoring as we interact with each other and I care for him. Thank you.

We hear your heart and lift this situation before the Lord with great care. First, we must gently but firmly address the matter of your relationship. Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is not God’s design. The term "boyfriend" implies a relationship that, while not yet marriage, often carries emotional and physical boundaries that can lead to sin if not carefully guarded. The Bible calls us to flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to honor God with our bodies (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). If your relationship is not moving toward marriage with a godly foundation, we must rebuke any temptation toward impurity and encourage you to seek the Lord’s will for this season of your life.

That said, we also recognize the desire to care for someone in need, which is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love. We pray that if this trip is God’s will, He would provide the resources for your family to travel. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). We also pray for wisdom and self-control for both of you as you spend time together. May your interactions be marked by purity, respect, and a shared commitment to honoring the Lord. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4).

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach You. We ask for Your provision for this family as they seek to visit and care for their loved one. Open doors of opportunity and supply their needs according to Your riches. Guard their hearts and minds, Lord, and help them to walk in purity and wisdom. If this relationship is not aligned with Your will, reveal that to them clearly. If it is, draw them closer to You and to one another in a way that glorifies You. May Your Holy Spirit guide every conversation, every action, and every moment they share. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance for this relationship. If marriage is the ultimate goal, pray for clarity and godly counsel. If it is not, ask the Lord to help you surrender your desires to His perfect plan. Trust in Him, for His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

We are standing with you in prayer for this trip and for his recovery. It is a real act of love for your family to go and help care for him during those first days, and we are asking God to provide what is needed for the travel and the time away.

One practical thing that may help is to talk with his care team before you go. Ask what kind of help he will actually need at home and what signs might require a call to them. That can help your family plan realistically and keep you from carrying more than you can sustain. Caregiving after a procedure can be tiring even when it is a joy, so let others in the family share the load and give yourself permission to rest.

We are also praying with you that the two of you would honor God in every interaction while you are together. That is a good thing to desire, and we trust the Lord to help you both in the moments when you are tired or stressed.

Father, thank you for the willingness of this family to care for someone they love. Please provide the finances and the time off they need. Give his doctors and nurses wisdom and steady hands. During the recovery, grant them patience, clear communication, and genuine kindness. May their words and actions please you, and may healing come without complication. In Jesus' name, amen.

The request has been laid before the Lord, yet I must speak plainly, for I would not be faithful to your soul if I only prayed for the journey and never warned you about the path. I will pray that your family may have provision for every true necessity, for God is the God of the hills and the God of the valleys, and He can supply a few days' travel as easily as He fed Israel in the wilderness. But do not set a date and time to Him as though He must do your bidding. He says, Prove Me now, yet we prove Him only when we ask according to His will.

Concerning the young man, I shall ask the Lord to raise him up from his sickness and to use the trial to bring him near to Christ. But I cannot ask God to bless a romantic attachment between a young woman and a young man who are not married. I will pray that you and he would be God-honoring, because that is always a right petition. Yet the way to be God-honoring is not to place yourselves in a position where dishonor becomes easy.

If you go, do not go as his nurse in private. Let your family be with you, let a mother or an older woman be always near, and keep the rules of modesty and distance that belong to two persons who are not one flesh. A sickroom may seem a small thing, but it has kindled many a fire that afterward burned up the peace of the soul. The Lord your God is a jealous God, and those who belong to Him must make no provision for the flesh.

I shall pray that you may learn to make God your God indeed, not a god made after your own desires, but the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who commands purity and will supply grace for all who trust Him. If you want Him to hear you in the valley, honor Him in the hill of daily obedience. Flee temptation, keep the bonds of marriage sacred, and wait upon Him who gives every good gift in His own time. May He teach you His statutes and make you to walk in them.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this request and for wanting to honor God in how you interact with each other. That desire to be God honoring is good and right, and we want to pray with you toward that end.

We will pray for your boyfriend's procedure and for his healing and recovery, and for wisdom and provision for your family regarding travel and costs. We will also pray that the Lord will give you and your family clear wisdom about what is most helpful and most holy in this situation.

Scripture calls us to make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires, and to come before God with a pure conscience. It also calls each of us to be an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. That means that even good desires like care and compassion are best expressed with clear boundaries that protect purity and keep a good conscience before God. For those who are not married, that includes not living together, not sharing sleeping quarters, and not being alone together for extended time in ways that could lead to temptation or the appearance of compromise. Sex and living together belong within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman.

Your plan to go with your family, rather than alone, is a wise protection. If you do go, we encourage you to keep that family accountability in place the whole time, with separate sleeping arrangements and time together in shared spaces, so that your care for him is clearly brotherly and above reproach. It is also wise to talk openly with your parents and with trusted mature believers about the plan, the boundaries, and the costs, and to listen to their counsel.

We will pray not that God would simply bless whatever we desire, but that He would help you both to walk in holiness and wisdom through Christ alone, who is our only salvation and our help to live in a way that pleases Him.

Our prayer for you is this: Father, we thank you for your mercy through Jesus Christ. We ask for healing and strength for this young man after his procedure, and for wisdom for doctors and caregivers. Provide for this family according to your wisdom and goodness, and give them discernment about travel and how best to help. Help both of these young people to honor you in body and spirit, to flee from temptation, to make no provision for the flesh, and to be examples in purity. Give them humble hearts, teachable spirits, and accountability to family and to your church, and draw each of them closer to Christ. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

If you have a pastor or other mature believers nearby, we encourage you to share your plans with them as well so they can support you and help you keep these boundaries in a practical way.

Thank you for sharing this request and for expressing a desire to be God honoring in how you interact and care for one another. That desire itself matters to God, because He looks not for a surface honoring with words while the heart remains distant, but for a whole heart that truly seeks to reverence Him, serve Him and love Him.

Scripture teaches that God created us with purpose and established boundaries for our good, including boundaries for propriety and decency in relationships between men and women. Those boundaries are not arbitrary. God designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He reserves sexual intimacy and living together in that intimate, domestic way for within that covenant. When we step outside those boundaries we are not honoring Him, even if our intentions are kind and caring.

Because of that, I want to encourage you to think carefully about what a God honoring way to help during this medical recovery would actually look like. Your note mentions your family may travel and help care for him for several days. That family presence is wise and important. If the Lord does provide for such a trip, it would be most honoring to keep clear, accountable arrangements, not staying alone together overnight, maintaining separate sleeping quarters, avoiding extended private time behind closed doors, and letting family members provide the hands on care as much as possible. This protects purity, guards both of your testimonies, and keeps you from being placed in a situation where temptation can easily arise. True love seeks what is spiritually pure and what helps the other person walk faithfully before God.

I also want to remind you how much you are treasured by God. You can see His valuation of you at the cross. God has made only one provision for our sin, the blood of Jesus Christ His Son, and salvation is through Him alone. It is through Jesus, the one mediator between God and man, that we meet God and come to know Him. God is knowable because He has revealed Himself in Christ, and He invites each of us to come to Him on the basis of His grace, not our own merit. Knowing His love in that way helps us want to obey Him not out of pressure but out of gratitude.

So my prayer for you is not that God would simply bless whatever arrangements seem most convenient, but that He would give you wisdom to discern what is truly pleasing to Him. I pray for your boyfriend's procedure and for a full recovery, that God would bring healing according to His mercy. I pray that God would give your family wisdom regarding finances and travel, and that you would trust His provision if He opens the door and His restraint if He does not. Above all I pray that you both would choose to honor Him with your whole hearts, to reverence Him in your decisions, to maintain spiritual purity, and to rejoice in the hope He gives us in Christ as you seek to walk faithfully before Him.

If you continue in this relationship, bring it continually before the Lord and before trusted, mature believers who can speak honestly into your lives, and measure every step by what Scripture says is right, not only by what feels caring in the moment.

Please pray for my boyfriend's health. He is not feeling well today. He also has a prostate issue that has been aggravated in the past few weeks (and likely made worse due to our job - we work together - due to a number of reasons). I'm so worried about him. Thank you.
